This is my first EP - "Live Forever". These aren’t really “songs” in the traditional sense - the song structures and the lyrics don’t really do what they’re supposed to, I guess - I absolutely focused on the lyricism as much as the music - and the lyrics do play a critical part - but rather than tell stories, many of these songs focus on fragments of emotion and my real aim was to set them within their proper musical landscapes.

“Scrawl” for example, is set in an ancient and icy forest, where a woman walks one night to find strength. Nothing really happens, but I think her resolve feels markedly stronger by the end of the piece, having passed through 4 contrasting sections of music.
Writing the 4 part brass section was a real highlight, seeing it come to life with Christine P playing all the parts was a treat, not to mention the 8 cello arrangement by Russick smith and the epic 3rd section made much larger with the help of Adriana’s percussion.

“So long” was written in memory of my friend. The musical setting should be self explanatory, but he was one of those people who I found so perfect that I let the friendship fade, believing he was far off doing much more rewarding things with people more perfect than me. That was a mistake. I hope he would appreciate the movement in this piece and the little nod to Debussy at the end - an echo of a conversation we once had in Paris.

“Arms of Mine” - this is the one song that does feel like a song. After the twists and turns of the other 4 tracks, I felt like ending with some clarity and simplicity and love.

BEKO, hailing from Komin(Croatia), began his vinyl adventure in 2018, diving into the timeless analog tool that remains his first choice for mixing music. He was introduced to electronic music back in 2006 at the Frankie Jazz Bar in Metković, where Pero Fullhouse, a well-known icon of the Croatian electronic scene, caught his attention.
 Pero Fullhouse played a significant role in fostering Beko's love for vinyl, and he felt privileged to learn from his idol and master of the craft. Quickly becoming his mentor's right-hand man, Beko became a resident of the "Moondance Festival," a popular destination in the regional electronic scene over the past decade, with three Ambassador awards for the best domestic festival. Additionally, he has performed at renowned clubs in Zagreb such as Depo, Sound Factory, and Aquarius. 

Over the years, he has participated in organizing and performing at events in neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina, performed at the Spanish underground club "Jaggys Techno Culture" in Barcelona, "Madalbaland" in Italy. 

 As the founder of the ROAD! collective, Beko has hosted renowned names from the global and regional electronic scene across Croatia, showcasing his passion for experimenting, exploring boundaries, and delivering eclectic rhythms that evoke a special emotion on the dance floor. 

He describes himself as genre-agnostic, uncompromising, and authentic, yet he gives preference to dark and raw techno that satisfies even the most discerning dancers with its energetic and groovy rhythms because in his record bag, there is always one more record that will take you to marathon destinations of his set.

September 20th marks the 30th birthday of Berlin pianist Nils Frahm, but also the day he has chosen to give his fans a special gift in the form of 9 songs he recorded with 9 fingers, entitled 'Screws'.

Nils experienced an unfortunate accident which saw him fall from his bunk bed located directly above his studio, which resulted in a broken thumb. But through inspiration from his fans and after a gentle walk and talk through the park with a close friend, he decided to deal with the situation in the only way he knew – playing his piano.

With four screws surgically placed inside his thumb, he started recording with his remaining 9 fingers, what later resulted in 9 intimate piano recordings.

'I am sitting in front of a sheet of paper. My right hand is bending over my left thumb. The first day I got out of my cast I could bend it by 15°. Now I am already at 50° and that makes me happy. Things are going uphill...

As you can imagine, it is really bad news for a pianist when he gets diagnosed with a broken thumb. That day I was sitting in the emergency room, feeling rather dizzy while thinking of a zillion shows coming up and all the people involved around it. I realised in that moment how busy things have become. It is hard to turn down interesting projects and opportunities, since I surely love my work. It actually never felt like work. Playing piano and playing it for wonderful people is the greatest joy I can imagine.

For a couple of days I felt like this all could be over. How pathetic. But hey – also feeling sorry for yourself has its place somewhere. All of a sudden I had so much time, an unexpected holiday. I cancelled most of my schedule and found myself being a little bored. Even though my doctor told me not to touch a piano for a while, I just couldn't resist. I started playing a silent song with 4 fingers on my left and the remaining 5 on my right hand. I set up one microphone and recorded another tune every other night before falling asleep.

The day I got rid of my cast I had recorded 9 little tunes. They have helped me feel less annoyed about my accident and reminded me that any good is something I can only achieve, when I am making the most out of what I've got.
