For our 4th release of 2024 we are excited to welcome back label mainstay Mani Festo for the follow up to his excellent “Eye’s Open EP” released on DEXT back in 2022 . “Ripple EP” sees him continue to develop and elevate his sound by taking things to more of a deeper level than his previous release’s. The theme of introspection is tightly woven throughout this EP as allot of time looking inwards was done while working on the tracks which were developed from sketches’ over a two year period.
The artist says - “It’s not overtly designed for the dance floor, deep melancholic moments are ever present, underpinned by heavyweight soundsystem music, something that is deeply embeded in my inspirations”

His ‘Decisions’ EP brings these tools together and opens with the title track that drives a thunderous kick under crunching stabs and a starkly contrasting vocal sample. ‘Jungle Book’ then sets a hefty break tumbling towards the introduction of a thick, flexing sub and bubbling synth patterns. 

Next up, Dutch master Alden Tyrell adds to a catalogue that reaches right back to 1999 and weighs in with a stripped and burly revision of ‘Decisions’. Powerful analogue hats are set crashing over a concrete kick and cavernous stabs before ‘Let It Go’ snowballs behind a classic break that gathers a jagged synth pattern and 90’s vocal samples that are sure to send the floor into rapture.

Over the last 12 months and just a handful of vinyl releases, London's DEXT Records has firmly established itself as a go-to label for DJs wanting that little bit extra. Not concerned with labels or genres, the ethos behind what they is no nonsense killer cuts for the floor, with a role call of artists including Alden Tyrell Bodyjack, Dubspeeka, Appleblim and Oli Furness.

Now for their 4th instalment Sheffield’s techno spearhead Lo Shea returns for his second release in 2015, served with a Zenker Brothers remix.

Lo Shea is certainly not work-shy. Founding the vinyl only label Seaghdha, and launching the 100 Years label (to commemorate the steelworks industry that Sheffield was born upon), Lo Shea’s catalogue documents an impressive 14 releases in just three years. Running his own warehouse night and label Hope Works, Lo Shea has shared the stage with the likes of Motor City Drum Ensemble, Theo Parrish, Ben Klock and Kyle Hall to boot.

DEXT Recordings now welcome Lo Shea for their fourth instalment. Initiating the proceedings with the infectious shuffle of ‘Durga’, the tonne soon turns sinister as the rupturing drones of ‘Sweatbox’ shadow over synthetic toms and erratic percussion. Famed German duo Zenker Brothers then flip the script on remix duty, with a snappier and more crystalline rendition of ‘Durga’. After teasing the music community with a snippet of closing track ‘Anzu’ on his RA live mix last year, a flurry of excitement has certainly been built around its demonic bassline and shuffling chaos.

It's been a long hot summer for DEXT; A string of quality releases and remixes from the likes of Alden Tyrell, Bodyjack, the Zenker Brothers, Lo Shea and Oli Furness plus a label showcase at Privilege in Ibiza. Only 4 releases in, the label has fast established itself as a standout player in the game. 

"DEXT Recordings are Killing it right Now" tweeted Skream earlier this year and he is just one of many who are singing this new label's praises.  

As we head into 2016, DEXT's fifth vinyl outing presents a new release from Callahan who is one half of Mak & Pasteman, the duo who have have delivered a string of club killers over the last few years. This new solo project takes his music into the deeper, darker waters of house and techno whilst still keeping that UK flavour that DEXT is known for. 
 
On the EP he's thrown down for us, he carves out 3 intense bass-heavy workouts that hit hard on the floor but display subtle layering and accomplished synth work, culminating in a an absolute banger of a release.
 
Livity Sound's Hodge steps up on remix duties. The Bristol based producer is gaining high praise left right and centre, and it's easy to see why as he pulls out a killer reworking of Don't Need. Hodge pushes the original into another dimension and rounds off the EP in fine style. Fans of his will not be disappointed.
 
At DEXT we're already getting excited about what the new year is going to bring for the label. Get set for EPs from the likes of Bodyjack, Mella Dee and some VERY special guest remixers in the first part of the year...

After kicking off 2016 with the massive “Don’t Need EP” from Callahan featuring “that” remix from man of-the-moment Hodge, DEXT is back with another banger of an EP from fast rising producer Mella Dee. 

The man from Doncaster, UK has been creating a name for himself on the scene of late with releases on Redlight’s Lobster Boy and Sweden based Omena Records; his DEXT Debut certainly doesn’t disappoint. Over the last year or so, he has been masterfully fusing driving house & techno percussion with 90’s jungle influences and his EP for us is, we think, his strongest work to date. 

The thunderous “Deep Soul” opens things up with filtered amens, chopped-up vocals and Reece bass lines; the perfect take on the late 1993 UK sound, honed & updated with a driving techno twist for 2016.  

“Universal” is a straight up 4x4 DEXT jacker, with raw house, UKG and moodier elements blending together for maximum effect.

Finally, “Circular” is the most “heads down” of the 3 originals - hypnotic synths and incessant drum patterns wind around each other to create a seriously classy, broken, techno track.

To round it all off we have a stunning rework of the title track from Endian (Non Plus, Birdie, Secretsundaze). Twisting up the original elements, this dark warehouse version has been crafted to perfection - if you liked Hodge’s remix for us, you’ll love this too!

This EP see’s the London based Bristolian on the usual rugged form we have come to expect, with grimey broken beats lots off bottom end sub action and  cascading synths. On The B – Side we welcome Bruce who reworks the lead track “Dioxide” into a wonky bassline roller guaranteed to cause maximum damage on the dancefloors in the early hours.

Boasting a discography of over 18 releases, inclusive of composers such as Special Request and Mark Broom, through to Nightwave and Hodge, DEXT Recordings celebrate 5 years with a V/A compilation from label affiliates Commix (Endian), Appleblim, Otik, and Pugilist.

'eleVAte Vol. 1' explores the more profound and invigorating, sonic excursions that the label's artists have to offer.

Fresh from an EP on Midland's Intergraded imprint, Otik returns for a disjointed offering with paranoid synth work and an arpeggio that fizzes through the tweeters.

Pugilist offers up dub stabs, analogue sirens with blips of space echo on 'Eclipse', with a garage swing and Rhodes, contrasting a ruff and ready sound palate of bass weight.

Metalheadz signee Commix, (AKA Endian), returns to DEXT for a tumbling UK bass track with swung percussion and side-chained textures of rising crackle.

Skull Disco, Applepips boss and dubstep icon Appleblim, returns from a recent album on Sneaker Social Club, offering 'Hydrothermal Vents', that sees him taint a 126bpm framework with his dubstep-tinged roots, providing room for the groove to move.

One of the UK's freshest emerging dance music labels, responsible for stalwart releases from Special Request and Nightwave, return for their 19th release.

The succinct beats of Pugilist have perked the ears of labels like Whities, 3024 and Trule to name but a few. And having previously featured on volume one of the label's new 'EleVAte' compilation series, among artists like Otik, Appleblim and Commix, he returns to the imprint for his first, full four-tracker; 'Siphon'.

The title track, Siphon, blasts through with authentic jungle chops, scattered together asymmetrically like a beautiful chaotic tapestry.

'Regrowth' is a swung garage stepper, jammed live on a 909 with earthquaking low-end frequencies that warmingly morph from underneath.

On remix duties of 'Siphon', is no other than Lobster Theremin alumni, Coco Bryce. With surreal, microprocessing of the heavyweight blows from the original, he also resamples time-stretched speech samples to devastating effect.

'Nightshade' closes out the record with its steadfast amen rinse-out and pokey 808 subs, concluding one of the most forward-thinking and new-school jungle records for the label, all the while serving as an exemplary ode to the old-school.
