Despite being only a short time on the radar of the scene, PAWEL is already regularly booked by the most renowned clubs in Poland. Raw, deep, hypnotic and groovy, his sound perfectly rounds up contemporary techno transporting relentless energy with style all the way through. He run his is own regular queer party series called — PAXXX, with a huge focus on diverse lineup which brings fresh air to the techno scene.

"All I want to do is express what I love." The beloved Berghain resident talks about learning from failure, putting in the time and how good sound systems have changed his life.

Born and bred in Minneapolis, Zak Khutoretsky, AKA DVS1, has been throwing and playing raves for decades. Now 47, he's at the top of his game. As one of Berghain's most popular residents and a producer known for his deep and versatile sound, he's amassed thousands of followers around the world, releasing on Klockworks, Transmat and Ostgut Ton, in addition to his own label, HUSH.

Not just an artist, Khutoretsky has garnered a reputation for speaking critically about the challenges facing the electronic music community, notably through his essay about the battle between art and entertainment, and more recently through the inauguration of his revenue sharing platform ASlice. The organisation was designed in 2020 as an antidote to the pay disparity between DJ earnings and producer earnings, and its basic conceit is that DJs submit playlists of their tracks and share small percentages of their gig fees to be redistributed among the artists whose tracks they've played.

In this RA Exchange live from ADE, Khutoretsky talks with journalist Christine Kakaire about the platform and the impetus behind it, as well as his underlying tendency to be a "fixer,"  from the problems in his house to the issues he sees plaguing his community. Listen to the episode in full.

Grown up in a small town, Ronny heard a lot of punk and hardcore as well as hip-hop at a young age. When 1993 Berlin's electronic music culture moved over into the rural region of Brandenburg, the first events were organized. A few good friends took him to such an event. He was fascianted from the flair and the energy of the music. This visit changed his life decisively.

It tooks no long time until he bought his first vinyl. Infected by electronic music, his collection grew rapidly. Today it includes a huge back catalog, which goes far beyond techno and house. It was not long until he got the first gigs as a DJ. He played across the east of Germany and growed up more and more to an insider tip.

Over the time, he decided to organize his own events and founded the event series "Sound of Eastside". Under this name, he organized numerous events at the Kraftwerk Lübbenau, which for many years decisively influenced the sound of the whole area.

With his mix of driving techno, he has found his own sound and has always developed it further. He still travels through the clubs of Berlin and Brandenburg.

Ronny Gee moves for a long time through the clubs in Brandenburg/Germany and yet he is a real hot insider tip. Used to be a friend of the hard styles, the 4 / 4 beat, drives it him now to the shifting sides of the music. But still, he does never lose his home from his ears and plays that, what he likes! Whether from the good old days or fresh from the vinyl-press, he really knows how to combine th...e styles.

As head and mastermind of the Party-Crew -Sound of East Side-, he always understood it over years to assembly the crowd around him and is one of the few “good old guys”, who still accompany the scene of Brandenburg and present to an honest and consistent sound.

In his room for plates he have the finest vinyl beads, most of the sound-proof music collectors are the envy of his own. He send the consumers deep and floating through his sets and takes them on a musical journey.

The reason was for him the year 1993. Electronic music, which was expressed at that time in the form of rave, trance or happy hardcore swept, by degrees from Berlin to him too in the rural area. At that time he was prescribed the punk / hardcore and heard also like Hip Hop.

But one evening, he dragged with a few of his best friends in a club, it should now change his life significantly. From the first visit on, he was so much fascinated by the vipes, the energy and atmosphere, which brought the music with it. Once tasted blood, his enthusiasm was unstoppable.

Schon lange streift Ronny Gee durch die Brandenburger Lande und ist doch ein Geheimtipp. Früher eher in den harten Gefilden des 4/4 Takts angesiedelt, treibt es ihn nun zu den schiebenden Seiten der Musik. Trotzdem verliert er nicht seine Heimat aus den Ohren und spielt fleißig das, was ihm
gefällt! Ob aus denn guten alten Zeiten oder frisch aus der Presse, er weiß wie man die Styles vereint.

Als Kopf und Mastermind von der Party-Crew Sound of Eastside verstand er es über Jahre hinweg, die Crowd um sich zu versammeln und ist einer der wenigen Urgesteine, die die Brandenburger Szene nach wie vor begleiten und dazu einen ehrlichen und konsequenten Sound präsentieren.

In seinem Plattenzimmer finden sich Vinylperlen, um die ihn selbst soundsichere Musiksammler beneiden. Deep und treibend führt er den Konsumenten durch seine Sets und nimmt ihn mit auf eine musikalische Reise.

Ausschlaggebend war bei ihm das Jahr 1993. Elektronische Musik, die sich damals in Form von Rave, Trance oder Happy Hardcore äußerte, schwappte nach und nach von der Berliner Metropole auch zu ihm in die ländliche Gegend. Zu dieser Zeit war er dem Punk/Hardcore verschrieben und hörte auch gern Hip Hop.

Aber als ihn eines Abends ein paar seiner besten Freunde in einen Club schleiften, sollte dieser Moment sein Leben entscheidend verändern. Gleich vom ersten Besuch an er fasziniert von dem Flair, welches die Musik mit sich brachte. Einmal Blut geleckt, war seine Begeisterung unaufhaltsam.

From a young age he was fascinated by electronic music. He never stopped at one point and he has moved steadily with time, never been unfaithful to his style. He has made techno over the years to his figurehead.
