Oath presents itself as one of Istanbul's finest house labels, with only three releases in its catalogue; a bold statement backed up by approaching EPs and albums by renowned names such as John Beltran, Seb Wildblood, Moomin, Rick Wade, and Genius of Time. Oath's main focus is to extend its boundaries with sister labels, Benthic and LYAM, to evolve a deeper label where they find opportunities to straddle different sub-genres, and enable them to work with their favourite musicians.

With influences ranging from early house and disco to turntablism and techno, Brett Johnson successfully straddles the line between knowledgeable "thinking man's" DJ and genuine, primal floor-filler. Brett's sound is best known as groovy, bumping house.
Releasing his first record in 1999 on the now defunct, Aesoteric Records, Brett has released over 100 records and remixes for some of dance music's best labels. The list includes Crosstown Rebels, Classic Music Company, 20/20 Vision, Get Physical, Visionquest, Magnetic, Freerange, Cynosure, F-Communications; the list goes on and on. Aside from a busy remix schedule, Brett is currently releasing his own music on the labels Visionquest, Classic Music Company, Get Physical and Cynosure Recordings.

Chris Wheatley Loves To Boogie

Stepping up to the mix series next is record collecting veteran Chirs Wheatley!! Based in Bournemouth UK, Chris has been a DJ, and record collector for 30 years, he's a resident at Bump n Hustle in the UK, and makes regular appearances at Spiritland and Up on the Roof in London. Chris has also performed at events in Switzerland, Spain, Germany, The Netherlands and supported Dave Lee, Kenny Dope, Greg Wilson, Horse Meat Disco, Craig Charles, Dimitri from Paris, Nightmares on Wax and Roy Ayers. In 2023, Chris featured on the festival line-up for Love Supreme with Mr Bongo, and We Out Here.

Over the years Chris has released music which featured on Radio 1 in the UK and signed to multiple compilations across genre. To help feed his addiction to Vinyl, he's also a Record Dealer and can be found buying and selling at record fairs, in addition to his eBay and Discogs online store under the name 'Funkymusak'.

His musical tastes vary from Boogie, Disco, Electrofunk, Reggae, Funk, Jazz, Latin, House and Garage. He also knows we love the variety so expect to hear a real eclectic mix of sounds through this mix, turn it up!

Hour 2 kicks off with Luca Santucci from Stubborn Heart with a Northern Soul special. Almost exactly 15 years after his last mix for Solid Steel, he returns for another go on the wheels. Perhaps better known for his collabos with Leila Arab, Plaid, Playgroup and Matthew Herbert, Luca can nowadays be heard plying his trade as one half of Stubborn Heart. He's done this mix for us to promote the film his brother Marco Santucci has produced, 'Northern Soul', directed by Elaine Constantine. The mix consists of fave tunes out of his brother's 7" box as well as tunes off the soundtrack to the film, which hits cinemas up and down the country on October the 17th.

We finish the show with a mix by Dunk Ballantyne from Tiger's Milk Records to coincide with the release of Peru Bravo, rare Funk, Soul and Psych from Peru's Radical Decade. Music featured includes Laghonia, Traffic Sound and Thee Image from the album, plus more from David Toop, Wolfgang Dauner Quintet and E Rodney jones & Friends.
