Chapter 8. History never repeats itself: for progress and thought moves not in circles, but in spirals.

For its latest instalment, fast rising imprint Chapter 24 welcomes Kurt Baggaley to the helm for two mesmerising pieces of electronica-infused techno, supplemented by powerful Editions from THe WHite SHadow and Nhar.

An artist who lives and breathes electronic music culture, Kurt Baggaley has evolved his productions into a unique and personal sound since his early days as the Electro artist Scape One. Taking in influences from early 80's Chicago House, Detroit Techno and New York Club, with a fusion of Italo Disco, Euro Synth and Electro, his huge Former Self EP on Something Happening Somewhere in Spring 2015 was met with widespread acclaim. Supported by the likes of Michael Mayer, Dixon and Petar Dundov, it was followed up with an album on Abstract Theory a few months later.

With the Spiral EP, Kurt brings more of his mesmerising and arpeggio-laden electronica to the table. Spiral {Original Mix} relentlessly interweaves layers of analogue synths and drum machines into a unique and compelling whole. Meanwhile, Spiral {Staircase Mix} is dancefloor-ready, losing none of the hypnotic edge of the original whilst being deeper, darker and techno-tinged. The spiral winds its course.

THe WHite SHadow (aka Anthony Godwin) is next up. He delivers a typically intricate and electrifying Edition that sees him capitalise on the success of his Goodbye EP for Chapter 24, leaving us tingling for more.

Finally, the label welcomes NHAR. An electronic music staple with Kompakt Records, he has released as far and wide as mobilee records, Correspondant and Boxer Recordings. Adding his own French vocals, he deploys his talents to take things into low slung, menacing and sexy territory.

Emanating from a central point, continuously increasing and receding. Hypnotic and never ending…let’s ride this spiral to the end!

Alok & Shapeless - Who Gives [FEATURE001]

It was in 2014 when a mutual friend introduced me to Victor Ruiz while he was staying here in Berlin. I invited Victor to my studio where we had a fantastic session, playing our music to each other, listening to stuff we like and simply talkin and connecting. Since then, we became close friends as well as starting to work together. Victor has released two outstanding EPs on Electric Ballroom by now. This summer we met again and recorded three tracks. The result is our first joint EP, of which I am very proud. (Thomas Schumacher, November 2015)

Dutch duo Esteble aka Joep Esseling & Bram Harmsen made their first Anjunadeep appearance with ‘Passage’, the opening track to last Autumn’s iTunes Dance #1 compilation ‘Anjunadeep 07’. ‘Passage’ now sees a release on the pair’s full label debut, the diverse ‘Feathers EP’ featuring four tracks showcasing their intricate composition and deft melodic touch.

The EP opens with ‘Feathers’ a brooding electronic gem, weaving delicate melodies with clever instrumentalism, above a warm textured bassline. ‘Passage’ is a fine example of the duo’s raw organic sound, a skilled soundscape layering soft melodies with natural elements.

Next up ‘The Walk’, an upbeat cinematic groover with as much dynamism as the title would suggest. Closing off the EP ‘Soaring’ is a more dance floor minded production with a stripped back feel combining slick percussive elements with interspersed arpeggios.

<p>ReEdits of RC047 : Tom Hades returns to RC with a 2-tracker. First on is Vocalismo, a track completely inspired and constructed with vocal snippets. Kalden Bess, owner of Ground Factory and known for his collaborations with Secret Cinema and many others, does a great job on putting his stamp on the title track. A definitive must have for your sets ! To end up the EP Suspect Package is a deeper melody track combined with precisely programmed effects it blends to Berlin styled techno pounder ... Get your hands on this release and you will not regret it ! :)</p>

<p>Alex Bau is the the true, post-apocalytpic gatekeeper. The stomping drums of his latest offering provide the backdrop for his effects-laden soundscape, letting layers of noise do the talking, while engulfing the unsuspected listener in a multitude of shadows.The Spektre remix is a hypnotic rumble with a bass-heavy attitude and micro riffs interplaying with synth snippets. At the time of writing this The Reef has 189 followers on Soundcloud, and frankly we don't' understand it. The 14 tracks available (mostly original) show a definitive style that you usually would only see from an accomplished artist with a ton of releases under their belt.   The 23 year old Swede grew up with a love for Hip-hop listening to his brothers early Wu-Tang Clan and Mobb Deep CD's.  This all is made clear when you hear his music, it sounds like sewer scenes from "Da Mystery of Chessboxin" music video look. A dark sewer with water dripping from pipes, bad air and it's dark and sweaty in a bad way leaving you feeling uncomfortable and uneasy. "Ignant"  is the lead tune off the EP and the drop is like the sound of the rainfall on an Alien planet where society is forced to live underground. "Tomb"is by far the most unplaceable, its sounds like a futuristic instrumental celebratory anthem for a rogue gregorian nomadic group in a post apocalyptical world, next up we have  "Skunk" a disturbing and dark track from start to finish. All these tunes are a fraction of what The Reef has in store for music lovers on the darker side of dance music and we can't wait to hear them all.
