MÉTIER is the new label from Jack! Who? and his UK based deathtechno.com project that is set to journey into deep, dreamy, dub, techno, acid, electro and ambient that will surprise and delight from release to release.

Collage artwork images are by local artist Grassi Art.

Tina is an Italian artist living in Berlin and this is his debut release of well-crafted, distinctive sounds of deep and grooving rhythms.

"A Midsummer Night's Approach" opens the release with dreamy drones and a beautiful, heartfelt melody structure.

"The Peach" is the second offering that focuses on a jovial and bouncy rhythm with glowing pads while dripping in delicate electronic soul.

Third up is "Pareri Accordanti" that steps things up a touch. The wonderful rising and dropping chords create a warm blanket of sound throughout, as it morphs into a more intense ride with highly satisfying crescendos.

Closing the EP is "The Nibble Kiss" which uses a throbbing sub bass for pulsing energy while the static-charged, gritty synth creates an abstract hook before the title vocal excerpt appears, pushing this gem to new heights.

The material in this release spans a six-year period but feels as organic as an LP, and Relative's signature sound is clear from the first track to the last.
Synth arpeggios, classic and modern drum machines, sampled voices, synthesised bass and bass guitars, the rudimental yet distinctive Microkorg vocoder – every track introduces its own unique element from the evolution of the equipment used in the studio by Relative himself and from experiments in blending digital and analogue hardware.
We're getting used to first-class releases from Flexi Cuts now, and we look forward to more collections like this in future.

David Agrella returns to his Agrellomatica Records with the trippy house sounds of ‘Freedom Unfolding’, featuring remixes from N-Gynn & Beroshima.

Italian-born, London-based DJ and producer David Agrella’s reputation as one of the city’s must-check selectors continues to blossom as he explores the many shades of electronic music through his Bloop radio show and Agrellomatica Records imprint. Fresh from the label’s second release ‘Robot Romance’, supported by the likes of Laurent Garnier, Fred P, Jane Fitz, Jennifer Cardini and Rossko, Agrella returns to close March via his spaced-out house EP ‘Freedom Unfolding’. Remixes are delivered by London favourite N-Gynn (Pleasure Club) known for drawing on left-field, ravey sounds and esteemed German live techno act and Muller Records/Acid Orange boss Beroshima.

Elastic basslines and tumbling percussion unfasten the A-Side with ‘Walking Loud’ as sinister synths convulse around the beat before N-Gynn provides a frisky reshape with sharp snares, golden keys and subtle, loopy vocal samples on a chuggier tip. The eclectic experience continues on the B-Side with title track ‘Freedom Unfolding’ as swinging basslines carry dream-like pads and fluttering samples, while Beroshima’s acid-infused, broken beat rework provides an anthemic finale to the release.

In Exhumed I.IV we can hear the balance between dancefloor orientation and subtle experimentation that clearly pulls influence from both Detroit and UK styles of techno. A heavy, textured broken beat is accompanied by a lamenting atmosphere, in the style that the artist has become known for. This same combination is used across the four-track EP but to varying ends, displaying an impressive diversity of moods and ideas that belies its aesthetic cohesion. While some tracks strike a more somber tone, others are more concerned with reverberating space and detailed percussion.

Exhumed Tapes I is out on April 24th. The release will be limited to 50 hand-numbered physical copies, distributed by Readymade from Berlin. It was mastered by Tim Xavier at Man Made Mastering.
