Sessions 3-5 engineered and recorded by Strahil Velchev "KiNK" in 1998, at a law office at the hours after work. Sessions 1-2 engineered by Konstantin Petrov "KEi" at his flat, recorded by KiNK and KEi in 1998. Gear used for the sessions: a PC, Jeskola Buzz software, cassette recorder and computer speakers or a home stereo.

AD FICTION - Camera Obscura EP [META MOTO]

"Camera Obscura" is an exploration of the grey areas of perception, an inner journey captured in the dark mirror of an endless forest. This EP dives into a flow of raw EBM, industrial textures, mechanical beats and cold synthetic layers, where each track acts as a sonic snapshot of a dissolving world. Between nocturnal ritual and inner wandering, the music becomes the negative of an altered memory. Elevated by the post-production of Scan X, a legendary figure of techno, Ad Fiction’s universe takes on a new dimension.

Ferocactus pilosus is a common species native to the Mexican states of Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, and Zacatecas. Colloquially known as the Mexican Fire Barrel Cactus, it can be found primarily on rocky limestone hills in semi-desert conditions in a variety of soil types. Ferocactus pilosus is a clumping barrel/column cactus with distinct, thick red spines. It produces yellow and red flowers when in bloom and is regarded as a slow-growing yet hardy specimen for home cultivation.

Our botanists strive to source and produce high-quality specimens to enrich your mind as well as your ears. After many months in the field our team has returned with a diverse selection of sonic seedlings. Following a series of meticulous experiments in our research facility each seedling has been deemed safe for general propagation and cleared for release. 

Each physical copy contains seeds of the namesake cactus (Ferocactus pilosus) along with instructions for growth & care.

A1. D_Roots – Let Me Go

Miami-based record label, Night Young, is proud to present the first edition of their various artist 12 inch series, Night Young International Vol. 1. As the title suggests, this first volume compiles five eclectic tracks from various producers, some having released previously with the label and some new to Night Young. While each of the five tracks comes from a different producer in their own corner of the globe, they are all connected sonically. Night Young International Vol. 1 sets a distinct mood filled with plenty of warmth, emotion, and groove.

Kota Motomura starts off the A side with "Midnight +1", a dose of laid-back, futuristic jazz that's as effortless and smooth as they come. Felipe Gordon follows this up with "On Birdland" a jazzy piano house tune guaranteed to get people moving. Luksek starts things off on the B side with "Alone at Sea" a smooth-as-silk house cut with beautiful bits of electric piano and swelling trumpet. Next comes "Say Goodbye" from Gloved Hands, a sentimental tune filled with lush pads and driven by warbling vocals and synth melodies. And to close out the EP is Nigh Young head honcho, Muning, with "On My Way To You" a delicate yet funky piece of contemplative house featuring some sublime trumpet lines throughout.

Pitto is not one to flood the scene with new music considering he’s only released two ep’s in the last three years. He takes the time to let ideas evolve and it’s clearly noticeable on last year’s EP on ‘Something Happening Somewhere’ sublabel ‘Ooshaa’, where his feel for an almost poppy hook is perfectly combined with his love for darker electronics. On the ‘Baila Baila EP’ –his return to Heist after his last ep in 2018- he explores this path further. The EP is filled with live percussion, a dark and rolling acid line, chopped beats and catchy piano riffs. The three originals are accompanied by a remix courtesy of Pete Herbert that has ‘summer’ written all over it. 

Opening track ‘Sammie’ has a beautiful sense of melancholy to it, where an emotional piano riff is combined with some 80’s tinged vocals and loads of live percussive elements for a smile inducing experience.

‘Discko’ takes a darker approach with a deep and ‘dubby’ low end and a guitar riff that wouldn’t be out of place on a Caribou track. The horn section and synth lead give it a real crossover appeal and it’s the kind of track you imagine working just as well on a summer festival as in a dark basement. 

On the flip, there’s the title track ‘Baila’, a proto inspired acid stomper with a nice wink to early 90’s dance music vocals. An acid line gives the track its backbone, but it’s the combination of Pitto’s chords and instrumentation that give this track it’s unique edge. 

The EP finishes off with Pete Herbert’s remix of ‘Sammie’. Pete’s version has that full-on summer appeal with his recognizable style of modern day island disco. He adds a bit of drama to the track with some big breakdowns, changeovers in the piano riff and turns the Balearic vibe up a notch with an added dreamy solo.

We’re happy to have Pitto back on Heist and this unique and diverse EP is one we hope will create a lot of smiles on the dance floor in the coming months.
