Thoughts behind the mix:
"I always want to give the participating dancers and the movement guide opportunities to discover new patterns of movement in their dance explorations, at times challenging them and at times carrying them through, but always presenting them with a demand to stay present in their dancing body and to not lose themselves in transcendent states usually encouraged by repetitiveness. Ideally in a session, every moment a conscious decision should be made about how they want to embody the music in the physical space.
For me it's a challenge as well, to keep presenting fresh options to relate to music with movement. This specific set is mostly an upbeat version of this concept but the range goes as low or high as a session calls for."

D‘FRAC #1 by The Flowering State

D'FRAC is a container for experimenting with and expanding the concept of a dance floor, positioned on a continuum between two spaces - the night club and the dance studio.

In this new liminal space all elements, architectural space and participants are active players in a fluid exchange of co-creating expanded dance floor experiences.

During a session, a ‘field of listening’ is established where a Dj, a Movement Guide and the participators co-create a fully improvised dancefloor which oscillates between the high energy, transcendent flow states of the club, the sensitivity and tools that expand physicalities developed in professional dance practice, and spontaneous moments of performance by individuals or the group as a whole.

The sessions are for anyone with a desire to expand the range of their dance experience
