Chambray's Rub EP made the club go boom; the remixes of Chambray's Rub EP will make the club go bang. On November 24, Ultramajic will liberate four souped-up reworks of the Berlin producer's debut EP, which were helmed by Len Faki, Bodyjack, The Hacker, and DJ Haus. Each contributor adds a distinct flavor to the Berliner's original productions. First up is French rave titan The Hacker, who twists "Ghetto Giants" into a slinky beat decked with pings, bleeps and a touch of sonic haze. Berghain mainstay Len Faki equips "Untitled" with a frog-marching techno kick, twittering percussion, and a breakdown so brooding you can practically taste the fog machine. In Bodyjack's hands, the same track becomes a buoyant house tool with acid croaks and vocal yelps, while Unknown to the Unknown label boss DJ Haus brings dry Chicago percussion to the fore on his remix of "Rub," which pits hypnotic stabs against a melody composed of acidic bass blobs.

Victor Calderone has stepped up for his first solo release on Drumcode with his two track single, ‘Burden’. Featuring two energetic tracks, ‘Skin’ and ‘Burden’, Victor has used effected vocals to create funky rhythms over the top of some steaming kick drums. The synth stabs lend themselves well across this EP particularly in ‘Burden’ where they really augment the flow of the track. The use of percussion phrases throughout both tracks on the single also reinforces the grooves and adds character to create a distinctive sound that keeps the single fresh and exciting.

We here at Second State are thrilled to bring you our new concept entitled HUB. While most labels these days are doing various artists releases to showcase the overall talent on their label, we thought it would be better suited for both our listeners and ourselves to break the mold and bring you a series of true collaborations. Each HUB release will feature a single artist teaming up with others from the Second State family to create an EP of authentic musical compromises. A place where multiple minds find a harmony somewhere outside their own identity and each collaboration conceives a genuinely unique artifact. With this, there is no one we would rather have kick off the series than the man behind the massive EPs; 'Throwl' and 'Doch', Stephan Hinz with HUB One!

Of course it would only be right to kick off the first track of the first HUB One way. An alliance with, Pan-Pot. "Tension' is a heavy number with just a few key elements, it's a slow lurking journey through a dark forest at night. As each bush and branch is pushed aside and every step inches closer to a destination unknown, the pressure builds. Soon, without knowing, you are in the depths of a jungle with no way back and only one decision. Keep going.

Landing their Culprit debut at the beginning of next month, Superlounge heads out with a splendiferous deep house two-tracker. Jinadu jumps in on the title cut, “Ghost of Time,” lending his melancholic vocal tones to open up the EP. Attractively deep and moony, a striking bassline serves as the vertebral column for this piece, as it holds together exquisite extensions made up of driving percs, a galvanizing synth lead and glorious garnishments. No doubt, lounging on the dancefloor will not be an option when this one is on.

A long time friend of the label and an artist who needs no introduction, Recondite presents two unique techno narratives for his much anticipated first EP on Life and Death.

Up first and straight out the gate like the turning of the great Boethian wheel, Think Twice turns over and on top of itself again, like the march of time and the fortunes of paupers and princes alike. An ever advancing urgent reminder of the transitory nature of the eternal now, it graces us with her beauty and leaves us with a shaking sensation deep in our bones. 

On the B side, Serak begins with a bellowing bass emitted like a series of holotropic breaths from belly of Stanislav Grof himself. A sequence of sounds sent like a fishing line to the depths of the psyche, it returns with a portentous melody that winds and wanders until exploding midway thru the piece in a burst of restrained emotion.

The Caulfield Beats are,  they say , "a two-piece garage electronic band based in London" - but be very clear, there's nothing UK garage about them. They are 'garage' in the punk, home-made sense: their mixture of acidic techno, electroclash-y rigidity, subliminal sampled voices and off-beam song structures has a slightly ramshackle quality while still conspiring to kick you hard in the tender parts when you're not looking. They're a unique and puzzling proposition but we're definitely taken with this gurgling trip-out.

It's been a long time in the making. From their early days as label-mates on the legendary Gigolo records, these two dons have remixed each other, DJ'd back-to-back, even worked on the same motion picture together (Ivory Tower), but not until now have they teamed up so completely, or to such devastating effect. On the eve on BNR's 10 year celebrations, where the two will headline a series of 6 shows together, Turbo proudly presents '100.'

Both producers come through clearly: the slamming drums and acid Boys Noize has so thoroughly mastered, the clever vocal hooks, catchy basslines and ravey breakbeat flourishes that are the feathers in Tiga's boa - the best of both artists are brought together here, with a distinct nod to their electro roots. It's an immediate winner, asserting it's sonic prowess through a flawless arrangement, confidently proclaiming it's perfection in a slick, round triple-digit. One-hundred.

The magic, as in Mind Dimension, Let's Go Dancing, or Bugatti, is for packaging true pop into a compact, techno power-punch that leaves underground cred intact. Both Tiga and Boys Noize are outstandingly versatile DJs who consistently yearn for something more than the obvious tropes of EDM, embracing extremes, fitting in the esoteric, being connoisseurs of a multitude of micro-genres of electronic music. 'Jam #1' is an ode to these low-slung techno roots, a stripped-down bonus beat that lays down the law of the drum machine, and sets the stage for the forthcoming '808 IRAQ' pulled from the same Berlin studio-session, soon to be released on BNR.

Next up on the Kompakt is Patrice Bäumel and he's delivered some more gold standard electronic music. His 'Speicher 85' features two tracks that both pack a serious punch. 

'The Vanishing' is a synth-loaded trip through razor-sharp twangs and groove-fuelled percussion while 'Low Rider' is a no-holds-barred monster.

Since Flume’s meteoric rise a few years ago, it seems like every other week there’s a young, new artist coming out of Australia that’s making the best electronic music ever. Enter Newcastle’s Stephane 1993. But instead of producing future bass or tropical house, he’s making furious techno that’s raised more than a few eyebrows. One particular set of eyebrows belonged to Boys Noize, who will be putting out his Holovision EP on BNR Trax May 25.
