Following the release of his highly anticipated Defected House Masters compilation at the start of 2023, Romero has continued to develop his driving sound with a number of original releases, including his remix of Roach Motel’s ’94 underground staple ‘Wild Luv’ on Faith. Now returning to DFTD with a bang, the explosion of energy felt in ‘Liquid Samba’ is impressive; chugging rhythms and an insistent vocal call mixes with melodic percussion, effortlessly evoking the sound of the jungle. Similarly, spoken word sections are used to detail ‘The Journey’, building a tropical world using only audio.
