DFTD delivers a package of unmissable club heat from Red Eye and Ancient Deep’s collaborative project R.E.A.D. Already tearing up dancefloors since last summer, this anticipated release’s distinctive vocal hook caught the attention of Defected Radio Show host Rimarkable and became a staple in her club sets, before it was picked up by the label’s A&R team for a full release. This package features the hypnotic original and R.E.A.D.’s stripped back Get After It Mix, as well as remixes from Ocha Records boss CASAMENA and Italian club don Marco Faraone. While CASAMENA takes a classic house approach with joyous piano chords and an irresistible 4x4 groove, Marco Faraone goes tougher with powerful synth stabs and a fierce bass destined for peak time moments.

Radio Slave's 'Venti' is released on Rekids on May 17th and is a twelve-track celebration of Matt Edward's most prominent alias' history. Starting life as a series of singles that began in 2023, 'Venti' sees Edwards explore lower tempos, House, Disco, and the Pop reinterpretations that birthed the moniker back in 2001.

'Like everyone else, my life slowed down during the pandemic, and then I decided to move from Berlin with my family after being in the city for 15 years. This all led to a new perspective, and 'Venti' is a direct result of that - a new perspective on my career, history, future, and the current state of dance music.’ - Radio Slave

From Venti’s opening track onwards, a glistening piece of piano-led house that's become an anthem at Sean Johnston and the late Andrew Weatherall's lauded ALFOS parties, it is clear that Edwards is keen to celebrate the past but through the lens of now. A Radio Slave favourite, 'Wait A Minute', is updated to include a powerful vocal from Nez. Kylie's 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' - a track that kicked Radio Slave into the modern dance music consciousness is reinvented as an Italo-inspired cover featuring Michael Love Michael delivering glorious vocals. 'Wild Life' and 'Wake Up', another two tracks that, as singles, dominated house and disco sets of the great and good in 2023, feel simultaneously fresh while paying homage to the origins of House - message-heavy vocals and all. A cover of Audion's 'Mouth to Mouth' and Edwards' tribute to Terry Hall, the Fun Boy Three reimagining 'The Lunatics' are keen displays of Radio Slave's knack for taking on beloved tracks and making them his own.

The lasers-set-to-stun cut-and-paste nu-disco of Radio Slave’s 'Jaws' is a muscular and timely reminder that the punch of a track lies in its feel rather than tempo, while Edward's command of dub aesthetics and unmatched ability to stretch grooves into a tension-filled journey shines through on 'New Balance' and the epic closer, 'Thirty-Six'. Never one to entirely give into the throes of the 4:4, the cinematic electro of 'Stranger In The Night' and Balearic Cagedbaby collab 'Amnesia' round out 'Venti' as the whole Radio Slave experience - as intense as it is subtle.

One of the most prolific and critically lauded electronic music artists of the past two and half decades, Matt Edwards was born in Catford, London, in the early 1970s. When acid house hit the city, Edwards was deep in the scene, and he's remained there since. Residencies at the groundbreaking Ministry of Sound and an 'unofficial' residency that has seen him become one of Panorama Bar's most booked DJs during his 15-year stint living in Berlin have provided the grounding for an enviable tour diary that continues today.

His Rekids imprint, a label that has platformed some of dance music's biggest names, has been regarded as a high benchmark for two decades with Matt as sole A&R. Collaborations with legendary artists such as DJ Hell and Robert Hood, releases for Running Back, R&S, Innervisions, Figure and more, and a remixography that simply couldn't be repeated in modern music show just how important Radio Slave is.

Bicep continue to welcome new artists into the fold as they expand their Feel My Bicep imprint with a 12” from fresh signees Tim Sweeney and Lauer operating under T&P. Number 10 in their release catalogue comes as a single titled ‘Hail Falls’ which includes remixes from Dark Sky and fellow Irishman Hammer. 

Having introduced their collaboration through a self released record on Sweeney’s own Beats In Space back in 2016 - T&P continue to develop this fruitful relationship and roll out more Disco-tinged Acid in a manner that suits them perfectly to a release on Feel My Bicep.

Acid Pauli BLD Remixes A 

Acid Pauli’s second album 'BLD' dropped earlier this year to a rapturous reception. Martin Gretschmann’s trippy opus took in various stops around the musical spectrum, yet remained committed to quality dancefloor tracks that refuse to follow any particular rule book.

This collection of remixes of the album's A side (hence the name) only adds to that achievement - bringing yet more new flavours and takes from some of the most exciting names in the underground.

'Abbebe' gets a rework from Sainte Vie who brings his trademark ‘multicultural electro’ sound to the album's opener, and produces an ecstatic mid-paced groover for the heads.

Oceanvs Orientalis drops a similarly exciting rerub, finding new angles and dimensions to the track 'Baris'.

Tel Aviv’s Red Axes turn up the psychedelica for the duo’s amazing dissection of 'Ayam' - deep sounds immersed in acidic tones and tight-yet- wonky arrangements.

Lastly 'Majid' gets the treatment from label co- head Nico Stojan who produces a sleek and spacy remix that will delight the early morning ravers.

One of the fastest rising underground females in the South American scene, Ilary Montanari makes a momentous return to Flashmob Records with a new epic vocal track called 'La Pluma' from her highly anticipated single 'La Morenita' again featuring a remix from label head Flashmob.

The astronomic success of Flashmob's remix of 'La Morenita' in the Latin world with over 4 million hits on Youtube since his recent tour last month has pushed this winning team to rejoin and do it all over again.

Mason delivers ‘Loosen Up’ on Toolroom this July as he reveals the first single from this forthcoming album, backed by a remix from Illyus & Barrientos.
Amsterdam-based DJ and producer Mason’s career has seen the Dutch native evolve his unique sound over twenty years, releasing material via a host of leading imprints including Island Records, Defected, Kittball, Skint and Sweat It Out, whilst playing playing sets in over fifty countries across the globe including at ADE, Tomorrowland and Space, Ibiza. Following the release of ‘The Get Down’ alongside ATFC on Toolroom’s recent ‘T2’ collaboration compilation, September welcomes fresh material on the label as he delivers the first single from his new album, ‘Frisky Biscuits'. The album follows two previous Mason long players and will feature a host of talented features and guests.
