As Warriors celebrates its fifth season at Sankeys Ibiza, residents Mark Jenkyns and Leftwing & Kody mix a double album composed of entirely exclusive tracks.

Returning to Sundays at the Playa D’en Bossa club, the party series recently announced their summer lineups spanning the likes of Groove Armada, Hot Since 82, Eats Everything, Skream, Huxley and VIVa founder Steve Lawler. Throughout the 2016 season residents Mark Jenkyns and Leftwing & Kody will be regular fixtures at the events, which is why VIVa have tapped them up to craft two mixes exemplary of Warriors’ distinct musical aesthetic.

Turning heads ever since his debut on Hot Creations four years ago, Mark Jenkyns has since followed up with appearances on Rinse, Dogmatik, Leftroom, Resonance and Crosstown Rebels, not to mention collaborating with Inxec as 12 Stories with a release on VIVa MUSiC last year. Meanwhile, Leftwing & Kody have been making waves since emerging in 2012, releasing on the likes of Knee Deep In Sound, Hot Creations and MadTech when not pioneering their own Lost Records imprint.

Jenkyns’ mix initiates with a percussive production from Leftroom founder Matt Tolfrey before erupting into lively material from names such as Resonance Records founder Max Chapman, Kreature and Tom Budden until a crunchy cut from Josh Butler concludes proceedings. Meanwhile, Leftwing & Kody’s tracklist sees the likes of Jey Kurmis, Solid Grooves founder Michael Bibi, Hauswerks & Anek, Cera Alba and ONNO, not to mention fast-rising newcomers Solardo.

The dream team Sam Divine & CASSIMM join forces once again for their latest co-production on DFTD, following up on the success of the pair's 'In Da Nation' EP. It's been a huge year for Sam Divine, whose DVINE Sounds imprint continues to rise, alongside playing global hotspots and supporting Defected at numerous club shows, festivals and their Ibiza residency at Eden. CASSIMM's 2017 has been just as impressive having released huge records on DVINE Sounds and Low Steppa's Simma Black imprint, meanwhile keeping up a busy tour schedule. 

'What God Has Chosen' demonstrates a maturing studio sound from the pair, packed with tight rolling grooves, synth stabs and hair-raising build-ups. The track has become an anthem for Sam's 'Openers' live concept, nailing a versatile deeper-reaching sound at home at the beginning or end of a set. The latest effort from these two artists is further evidence of the magic that happens when they step inside the studio together.

It’s almost Christmas time and here, at elrow Music, we want to start the celebration with a big comeback to our releases ranks. Label boss and tech-house honcho De La Swing is back with a three tracker EP of two originals and one high rolling remix, by the one and only Mathias Kaden. ‘Everyday EP’ opens up with the title track, ‘Everyday (Original Mix)’, a track with a steady but soft percussion, a hip-hopish vocal line that sings about love, and a nice 90’s infused melody by the middle of the track, with an overall vibe that everyone associates with elrow and its parties. Then we have ‘Creeper (Original Mix)’, that opens with a swifter percussion and starts in full energy thanks to that exotic vocal line we hear in the back of the track. With FX coming and going, the synth treatment De La Swing uses is just mind-blowing and will make the crowd lose it in the middle of the dancefloor, making this carnivalesque track perfect for the busiest times in the dancefloor. Finally, closing the EP, we have Mathias Kaden’s remix of De La Swing’s ‘Everyday (Mathias Kaden’s Repitch Remix)’, in which the German producer twist the original track with a steadier and faster vibe, a bit harder, also distorting and playing with the vocal line and keeping the melodies, making it a more playful tune and fitter for peak times in the floor. Resuming, one huge delivery by the label boss De La Swing, that showcases his great moment, and an amazing re-interpretation by Kaden, who has perfectly understood what elrow Music’s line is all about. David Penn delivers his first collaboration with legendary house vocalist Roland Clark on Defected. Boasting the same infectious groove as his previous outputs on the label, ‘The Power’ makes the perfect antidote to wintertime blues, capturing the uplifting energy of his DJ sets with a record destined to unite all on the dancefloor. As Roland Clark’s delivers his emotive spoken word narrative, David’s rolling bassline and percussive breaks bring his signature brand of soul-laden house. Once again, the pairing of Defected and David Penn proves to be a match made in house heaven, expect to hear ‘The Power’ dominating dancefloors all year long.
