Sorley 'Let It Shine'

Sorley returns to DFTD with a cohesive three-track EP, ‘Let It Shine’, building on the North East producer’s recognisable club-oriented aesthetic. His previous DFTD release, the heavily coveted ‘Deadeye’, secured the prime time ‘Friday Fire’ feature from BBC Radio 1 tastemaker Danny Howard. Debuting on Riva Starr’s Snatch! imprint with his chart topping ‘She Freeks’ EP, before releasing more through Danny Howard’s imprint Nothing Else Matters. 

The next outing for the producer and DJ is championed by the title track; a rubbery, bass-led club release featuring heavy vocal manipulation decorated with squelchy synth lines. What follows is a seamless mix into the understated ‘My Time’ and more minimal ‘Tube Town’, providing a club experience that is 100% Sorley.

Not Afraid

Releasing music for nearly a decade, recent months have seen Gould make waves with releases on labels such as Lost Records, Lapsus and Snatch! whilst picking up support from the likes of Jamie Jones, Riva Starr and Supernova. The rising British talent now joins the Solid Grooves roster, appearing next to producers such as Wade, Dennis Cruz, David Pher, not to mention label founders PAWSA and Michael Bibi.

‘I’m Feelin’ Good Right Now’ is percussive and intricate from the off, meandering forward using infectious drums before introducing a spoken word sample and a cacophony of rhythmic elements. ‘All About Good Times’ then brings in a rumbling bassline and suspenseful soaring synths whilst piercing vocal cries erupt sporadically throughout the mix.

The second floor cracker to hit their NO ART label, "Cultural Decline" is another one of those in-your-face monster tracks that @ANOTR are known for. From its thumping kick drums to the groove-heavy beats and vocal shouts, this track is sure to hit the underground scene hard.

Next up with their debut release on Hot Creations’ sister label Emerald City are former college roommates Josh Taylor and Justin Jay. An energetic track full of bounce and edgy samples, Pussy Pop is an ideal addition to the label’s young venture. Bringing his signature dance floor rhythm, Jamie Jones has delivered high quality on the remix with a fun acompaniament to the original.
 
Josh Taylor began his musical career in his hometown of St Louis, Missouri. Starting out as an acoustic pop artist strumming at his ukulele and songwriting, his laid back attitude (and discovery of nightclubs) led him down a path of exploration through music genres. His unique approach to writing hooks and basslines is apparent across the board, from his band The Cozy Boys to his previous collaboration with Justin Jay on the exceptional Fantastic Voyage album.
 
In response to how the two of them came to collaborate, Justin answered “When we were roommates in college, Josh opened me up to the world of singing and songwriting through his jams on the ukulele while I started dragging him to clubs and warehouse parties. He inspired me to take a stab at my own singing/songwriting and I pushed him to try DJing/production.” 
 
The head of his own label Fantastic Voyage and one of the youngest producers to release on Dirtybird, Justin has already seen success that extends beyond his years. With an array of fruitful releases under his belt, the LA based producer/DJ has received support from the likes of Claude VonStroke and Disclosure, boasting “Future Star” recognition by the influential Pete Tong. Justin manifests his soul, funk and jazz routes in a forward-thinking manner that yields his unmistakable house tracks.

Lorenzo De Blanck makes his debut on Nic Fanciulli’s Saved Records this month with his debut ‘White Havana’ EP. Lorenzo is no newcomer to the scene with past successes on labels including NONSTOP, Moon Harbour, Flashmob Records, Deeperfect and previous DJ support from A-Lister’s, Joseph Capriati, Nic Fanciulli, Jamie Jones, Matthias Tanzmann, Kölsch and many more! Lead track, ‘White Havana’ kicks things off, a crisp and energetic cut featuring swinging claps, suspenseful synths and a playful rise and fall bassline. ‘Password Incorrect’ brings laid back House drums with crisply mixed percussion, looped vocals and a pulsating low-end which underpins a series of hypnotic synth hooks that grow with subtle melodic hints.
