I came up with a cool chord progy and decided to turn it into a thing to practice sequencing solos on. The style ended up being heavily inspired by Tony Thai’s Coast 4; it was good practice to try and pastiche the classic.

While trying to recreate the funny lyle mays square lead sound, I found out that one of the rounded-square waveforms from super mario world works rather well as a base waveform (layered x2, and the second layer has a bit of filtering + a slight pitch slide down on attack). it's not exactly the original lead but imo it sounds nice and has a warmer tone.

this was also good drum-programming-practice, but maybe the drums were a bit overdone, i'm not sure...
