Hack and cough

If I have ever in my life penned a song that might be worthy of being a single, this is it. Written at a time that a lot of my friends were partying their brains out and dropping out of college, it was my way of letting them know how I felt at the time. In essence, I didn't feel like I belonged in that whole scene.

This is the first draft of a little song I've been working on for the last week or so. It's me getting out some pent-up feelings about how the responsibilities of adulthood -- marriage, child-rearing, home-owning -- can suck the life right out of your friendships and hobbies like, oh, playing music. It's not that I dislike being married, or a father, or a homeowner. I wouldn't change a thing. It's just frustrating when you get called a "flake" by people who are foolishly convinced they've got it better than you because they've purposely skirted the responsibilities of adulthood.
