If you are into high-quality Dub Techno and proper Deep House, you should check, if you still haven’t, Made of Concrete’s catalogue on your favourite music outlet. The German label has been delivering proper stuff – available both on digital and vinyl formats – since its foundation in 2015. This is the second review we write for them, and as we did at the first time, skimming through their previous releases is something we failed to avoid.

Their next offering comes from the hands of Rebar, the label owners themselves, a Berlin/Dresden-based duo focused on delivering blue-chip atmospheric, trippy, and extremely-far-from-melodic Techno/House themes. Despite being the big bosses, they haven’t released original works on their own imprint since the superb “The Rise Of A Crisis” in September last year. The lads now deliver “Phenomena”, three spaced-out, dubby Techno rollers that come accompanied with a boom(!) remix by Markus Suckut.

The track we were solicited to review/premiere, “Solar Storm”, is a minimalistic and hypnotic extravaganza whose synth stabs and leads seem to depict real disturbances and flares on Sun’s surface. Its dark yet pensive mood provides a mesmerizing aura, suitable to lose yourself to dance and forget the chaos we have been currently living in.

Hot City Orchestra deliver the debut album ‘I Almost Danced’ via their own Internet Is Over imprint this September, comprising three parts to make up the collective LP which traverses through downtempo, ambient, glitch, dub and more.

Hot City Orchestra is the collaborative guise of Arno Volker, label boss of Pressure Traxx and La Peña, and his long-time friend Simon Birkenfeld. In February of 2021 the duo inaugurated this new project and new imprint, Internet Is Over, with their debut EP ‘The Planet’. This material found the duo utilising modular synthesis and field recordings, taking inspiration from both nature and city life and fusing an amalgamation of influences into something uniquely theirs. Here Hot City Orchestra return once again to showcase more of their idiosyncratic sounds with a debut album.

Part one of three from the ‘I Almost Danced’ LP is made up of four cuts featuring pianist Nicolas Engel. 
Our premiere for today, ‘It's Not Over Yet,’ embraces an early 2000’s IDM aesthetic, laid out across fifteen minutes with a minimalistic rhythm, winding subs, ethereal synth textures and dubbed-out piano licks.

PREMIERE: Hot City Orchestra - It's Not Over Yet (feat. Nicolas Engel) [Internet is Over]

Hypnotic techno and electro from the enigmatic Dutchman Taupe, who has released a steady stream of Detroit-influenced cuts across European labels like Impress and Tech-um, plus his own Colours label.

For Gated he presents four tracks that remain pure to his strong Motor City influences.

Kicking off the wax, ‘Rootless’ is a spacey, mesmirising, and driving track that gradually builds momentum in the best way.

Next up, ‘Marrakesh’ takes things a little harder and deeper, keeping that tripped out vibe and pushing things forward.

For the B-side, ‘Terra’ brings out some eerie electro underpinned by a rolling bassline, while ‘Bloom’ rounds off the EP with perhaps the most melodic track of all.

Depuis 2010, OuD!n13 & Dave-G, 2 frères passionnés de la musique électronique s'envolent en duo pour essayer de se compléter mutuellement. Par manque de temps, la G-prod s'évade au plus vite en créant des projets live.. Avec du recul et plus de temps pour la collaboration, ils proposent depuis fin 2011 une nébuleuse d'influences basé principalement entre la musique électronique et le dub.
