After 100 days of not playing, I sat down today to improvise and this is what appeared.

100 Days

In the song By The Time I Get to Phoenix the protagonist - let’s call him Glen - does a lot of brooding over what the girl he left behind will be doing as he journeys further away from her. It always seemed pretty shitty of Glen to sneak away while she was sleeping. So this is the story of the girl waking up to find him gone. She’s thunderstruck and heads out on his trail … only to discover there may be more to his departure than meets the eye.

In early winter I began composing what started as a simple piano solo.  Then came a friendly offer from a great cellist to play anything I would write, and so the piano solo became a duet, and from the space between emerged a theme in full orchestration.
