After touring the globe with a three-piece band, Desert Sound Colony, the alias of Liam Wachs, has made a welcome return to his dancefloor roots. His forthcoming EP Tethered is set for release on Edu Imbernon’s Fayer with remixes from acclaimed producers H.O.S.H, The Drifter and Denis Horvat.

The vocals of title track Tethered reach out to you like a tribal calling, whilst guitar strings lead into a hypnotic trance that is interspersed with cosmic sounds and clashing cymbals. Wachs describes it as “most appropriate for an after hours session or a sunrise at a festival.” Whereas Sunrise of My Mind is deep and bassy with a broken beat that yearns to be heard on a huge soundsystem. “Somewhere between the dub and breakbeat sounds of Leeds circa 2009 and the weirder side of bands today” he explains.

The second track receives two reworks. The first from Dynamic favourite H.O.S.H is layered to the brim, sending the tune to another dimension. Denmark’s Denis Horvat who has released on labels like Afterlife and Innervisions delivers a darker, more techno leaning version. Maeve label boss The Drifter reworks Tethered by slowing the beat down a notch but still retaining plenty of groove to satisfy any dancefloor.

An artist with many talents, Desert Sound Colony has released on admired labels like Scissor & Thread and Me Me Me. Recently he has graced the stages of many respected festivals alongside names such as Ewan Pearson, Kenny Larkin, Hunee and Craig Richards.

PREMIERE: Desert Sound Colony - Sunrise Of My Mind (Denis Horvat Remix) [Fayer]

Henry Saiz & Band recently revealed plans for their ambitious Kickstarter-funded album Human and a first taste in the form of stunning debut single The Golden Cage. Hot on its heels comes the spectacular indie dance stunner Ghosts, with a host of stellar remixes.
Transhuman Club Version draws the original out into a brooding 9-minute-long techno opus, at first pitching the vocals down before they rise up, giving the effect of a male/female duet. Stuttering, distorted chords rise from the deep beat with delicate arpeggios, the track slowly swelling to an intensity before restraining itself. Its a subtle, classy rework perfect for those build moments in deeper sets. It should be noted that its this style that Henry Saiz & Band will be playing in their live shows, combining the most powerful elements of their originals with a tougher electronic backbone perfect for festivals, arenas and concert halls.

Canada-based Frenchman Mayfie makes his debut on French imprint Audio Perspective this month. The rising techno producer, host of Body's Up Radioshow and resident at Circus Afterhours in Montreal, is most certainly one to keep on your radar in 2018. Mayfie delivers 3 heavy-hitting cuts, offering up a staunch powerhouse sound with deft melodic touches. Title track 'Therma' is a tense mind-warper with a throbbing bass-line and a harrowing ensemble of fx coating the surface. 'Hoova' is a similar haunting techno composition, which utilises a monsterous build and an upfront groove in a minimal, bone-shaking drop. Track three 'Navy' is a more melodic affair, bringing to the fore an ever-rising arpeggiator and a set of booming stabs sounds. Closing out the release is fellow Frenchman The White Shadow (Suara, Einmusika, Chapter 24 Records). Taking on the title track, the established producer delivers an intense acid-riddled edition custom-built for the dance-floor.

Onedotsixtwo remains focused on bring together the finest global talent with its 30th release. Australia as a hotbed of unique talent is once again in the spotlight as two of Melbourne’s most exciting DJ/Producers, John Baptiste & Liam Sieker, combine their immense creativity and unleash a trio of outstanding tracks, collectively titled ‘Neon Skies’. Staying with the global theme, excellent remixes of ‘Neon Sky’ and ‘Neon Sunset’ come from Argentina’s Analog Jungs and India’s Weird Sounding Dude.

Opening with the subtle percussive vocodered beauty of ‘Neon Sky’, John Baptiste & Liam Sieker reveal their gorgeous, hypnotic deepness that morphs perfectly into the pulsating energy of ‘Neon Sunset’ as darkness falls. They then keep the energy level flowing with the acid tinged, heavy groove of ‘Neon Sunrise’ to complete their perfectly formed trio of diverse yet cohesive, proper progressive tracks.

The first of our remixes comes from Analog Jungs, the multi-talented and legendary Argentinian duo Claudio Cornejo and Gustavo Ruarte. Returning to the label on the back of their excellent ‘Marbella’ / ‘Vancouver’ (ODST0025) double-header, they deliver a uniquely impassioned interpretation of ‘Neon Sky’ that builds and soars with euphoric majesty.

‘Out of the Dark I’ kicks off with ‘Tesla’: all sweeping soundscapes, with an other-worldy energetic flow. Title track ‘Out of the Dark’ emerges from the shadows in a flourish of melodic techno that is equally danceable but also channels a loungey vibe. 

So laid back it’s almost horizontal, ‘Embrace’ is laced with groovy little undertones. Melting from one mellifluous form into the next,  ‘Shapes’ soars with a strong yet subtle undertow of chunky riffs.  Jiggler pours the good vibes into the consistently uplifting ‘Hope’, an ode to positive feelings and brighter days.

Opening the doors of perception is ‘Flyby’, an experimental interlude of dreamy melodia which invites you to dream.

UFO Sound hit double figures and keep up the high class sounds with a new EP from Deomid who makes his debut on the label, whilst also being the new UFO Sound resident. Here he offers up four fresh new cuts perfect for the dancefloor. 

Bubble kicks off with a trippy lead synth and bubbling bass which gives the tune its title. Clacking hits are gently weaved into the mix, the drums are rubbery and warm and the whole thing makes for a rich listen. For Me then ups the ante, with rugged keys, pixelated pads and an edgy vibe that keeps you unsettled and locked in throughout. Undermine is a darker tune with a freaky vocal looped, cut up and layered to trippy effect. It makes for a different kind of techno vibe. Your Body Stand It is a cosmic techno rollercoaster that is always on the up, with layered pads, arching synths and a truly future feel. 

This is another standout EP from UFO Sound.

Dharmalogy is a solo music project of Dharambir Balmiki hailing from India who discovered his ardor for art & creativity at a rather tender age and decided to devote his full time towards the same. In a chaotic Indian way of life, he found peace in his humble studio and music became his preferred mode of expression. His music has received remix treatment from the likes of industry legend Nick Muir and has been supported by stalwarts like Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Dale Middleton, Darin Epsilon, Solar Stone, Nick Warren, Praveen Achary and Ruben De Ronde to name of few. Needless to say, the future looks nothing short of bright for him.
