FKA Chris Harmonics - Blendits Audio Reflections Vol. 1

Dispatch Dubplate returns in October, with two of the most infamous unreleased dubs of the past decade; the Alix Perez & Zero T collaborations ‘The Ladders’ & ‘Enemy Of Reason’ will finally be made available digitally and on a limited vinyl press. 

A ‘dubplate’ in its purest form, becoming something of an urban legend in DnB, the tracks were kept ultra-exclusive for years; sent only to a select few DJs, only accessible to those attending the clubs, fueling the excitement that made up the dubplate culture we celebrate within this series.

Truly defying the test of time, we present two tracks that still provoke just as strong a reaction on the dancefloor almost a decade on, and for some, spurs nostalgic memories of ‘The End’ in London. 

With 400 hand stamped, signed and numbered heavyweight vinyl copies available, there is a very limited press and much like previous Dispatch Dubplates, this will never be re-pressed.

Every release symbolizes one particular requisite that you'd evidently need to rock the so called black gold. Here served by, what else could it be, a butler we start of with the headphones...

Musically that includes the ever magnificent Phil Tangent who contributes "Misgivings", a roller that effortlessly switches from euphoria to dark tones. The legend Big Bud in collaboration with Austria's finest RoyGreen & Protone and #Dual on "Gospodi". A smooth liquid outing that we just fell in love. The ever surprising EastColors with "Naked Skin" that brings in low slung tempo with the vocal wonder Tiiu and last but not least Demand's own nurtured talent Phase who rounds of the first part with "Abundance". As the name suggests it is absolutely rich in form of vibes!

Phil Tangent - Misgivings

Very little is known about this new face on campus. With just a few releases already under his belt on labels like Fokuz, Celsius and Delta9, Salvatore De Luca has actually been producing D&B for over a decade and as a result has a very mature and diverse output.

Based in Palermo, Sicily, he is a drummer and surgeon by trade. 

With a second EP already lined up for release on Commercial Suicide in a couple of months we here at Commercial Suicide can simply say we thoroughly enjoy his music and artistry and these 3 tracks are just the tip of the iceberg.

It was late 2015 when Brazil's Level 2 and DJ Chap lit the fuse and sparked off the Alibi team-up. Individually, they were already well-established, but this move would take the levels even higher. Smashing into our consciousness with a huge set at SUNANDBASS in 2016, the new duo quickly built a reputation for being prime exponents of the future sound of Brazil. As testified to, if proof were needed, by them featuring on Hospital's 'Future Sound of Brazil EP' and contributing some of the stand out cuts on the recent 'Viva Brazil' album presented by DJ Patife. With a series of huge releases and download chart-topping success under their belt, including colabs with Command Strange and Disaszt, their 'Inception EP' comes loaded with anticipation.

Now, we've already seen these producers display multiple facets to their drum & bass. Influences of tech, liquid, jump-up, and more have peppered their output like 'Aftermath' and 'The Hornet EP'. So, of course, Alibi have taken the opportunity afforded by this five-track release to stretch out across sub-genre divisions once again.

As tension is ramped up from the stripped-back bass-weighted 'Knockout', through to the tech paranoia of 'Inception', you might imagine you know where this EP's going to take you. Then 'Greenline 02' comes along to wrong-foot you with with its dubby, subby tints melting into euphoric chords. 'Reizenstein' adds another hint of darkness, with vibes as shadow-shrouded as the meaning of the title. But then there's the switch-up of 'Morning Glory', an emotive fluid-soul roller which has that summer-night feeling encoded deep in its DNA.

Having been instrumental in bringing the D&B of Brazil to the world in the first place, the V Recordings camp is now intimately associated with its next stage of evolution. You see, with more styles and influences in the melting pot, the architecture is developing. And, globally-influenced but SÃ£o Paulo-rooted, Alibi's 'Inception EP' lays out the blueprint.

The 3rd release from Four Corners Music comes in the form of a 4 track EP from Cryteria, titled “Dark Worlds EP”.
The opening track ‘Never Been There’ blurs the lines between jump & tech, two of the four corners represented by the label. 50s style sci-fi horns open the track up followed by serious low end weight, gritty stabs and swinging drums which bring an interesting twist to a set.
‘Death Camp 13’ is an outright slammer, this one is going to create mayhem in a rave. The EPs title track ‘Dark World’ takes things right back to the tech corner, drum work on this one is ridiculous. Finally ‘The Reaper’ closes the EP off with more fantastic break work complete with drone basslines and rich atmospherics - absolutely essential EP.
