the jv-1010 was the epic choir, a preset called "creation" also available from the Session expansion board.  akai was the drums, the orchestral expansion was used for the klakkety-klakk-klakk.

This is a short test to demonstrate the audio-condition of this Polysix.  The quiet moments between the sounds are the normal output noise.  The P6 went straight into my Alesis IO/2 which recorded straight into Soundforge and its WAV uploaded here - so this is true Polysix sound.

0:00 - 0:10  =  basic tone playing singly all 6 notes to create a chord, before singly releasing them again.

0:10 - 0:23  =  those same 6 notes hit each 6 times on their own to demonstrate the condition of each voice.

0:23 - 0:31  =  short play with chord and solo with same tone-patch.

0:31 - 0:38  =  unison bass play using same tone-patch.

0:39 - 1:08  =  creative patch play.

this is with the mix-out straight into an old Alesis IO2 which has become a bit noisy.  next SK30 demo will be using the individual outs with eq/fx and going into my new Focusrite interface, so sound-quality should be better & wider.

first sk30 impressions: it's very interesting!  much like a Korg Trident with the Polysix's ensemble-sound.

Doepfer MS-404 test run.  I put in a very simple midi-sequence in the RS7000 and let it run.  The MS-404 has a very effective audio in, so the secondary sounds also come from the RS.  All the sounds here are morphed via knob-turning by both the Doepfer and the Yamaha.

Yamaha RS7000.  Controlled with ESI 49 midi keyboard.

This is less a demo and more a complete song i did, although improv ("nathrak")...the improv technique is thus:

- set to real-time overdub record.
- start with a drone of choice and effect it as you please, until anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes have elapsed.
- select the next empty track, select an instrument of choice, and hit real-time record again to play with the drone
- do this for a few more tracks, until the drone song sounds relatively complete
- no further edits required, just record into the soundcard and upload to the internet:))


I did this a couple of years ago, but am uploading it here for the RS7000 group, all the sounds and effects and EQ are from the Yamaha RS7000, no further processing or editing.

i wanted a good all-rounder sound module that is also portable. the roland xv-2020 is a little too expensive for me right now and the kurzweil me-1 is hard to find any may also lack some types of voices.

i've settled on the older jv-1010, which has all the patches of the jv-1080/2080 plus all from something called the Sessions Card. Over 1000 patches in all.

i've read that the audio quality of the 1010 may not quite match that of the 1080/2080. i've not found any facts or specs to back this up. what i think some people may mean by this comparison is that the 1080/2080 have more outputs, which potentially would mean you can get a more optimised output quality than you could using just the 1010's L&R outputs. if anyone has audio comparison samples or experience with both the 1010 and 1080/2080 then do chime in.

so it just arrived and i hooked it up to my 2-octave keyboard controller (m-audio oxygen 8) which has knobs, allowing for easy filter control. not that interested in editing the patches right now, but i do have the pc software to do that for later (can send it to anyone who also needs it).

the audio file here is my first playing about with the presets, with some filter sweeps. a bit limited with just the 2 octaves, but this little demo is just about getting an idea of what some presets sound like. i'll make a more interesting one at some point.
