Derek da Rocha Hoo aka dj D-HOO’s love for music was first sparked by his uncle, a musician who still is a drummer at present day. The drumming sound gave D-Hoo a good sense of beats and ryhthym at an early age... By the age of 14, he spent all his savings on a set of hi-fi stereo and bought his first pair of turntables and a mixer. He started hosting private house parties and by the age of 17 his experience landed him on his first DJ gig at a prestigious Night Club in Macau...

Influenced mostly by the sounds of Pink Floyd, Front 242, Depeche Mode and so on, D-HOO’s musical journey really began when he moved to the UK in 1991. Legendary Clubs such as Club UK, The Heaven, Ministry of Sound and live performances of 808 State, The Orb and Orbital, opened up his doorway into the world of electronic music.

He returned home in 1997 with the urge of bringing the party culture and the good vibe into Macau’s night scene. He joined efforts with a friend and founded Bermuda Productions which was a success, then Phuturo Entertainment, hosting some of the most acclaimed parties in town at that time... Left Macau again by mid 2000 to pursue higher education and also to grow his personal musical journey...

Having spent years experiencing different genres of electronic music and fine-tuning his DJing skills, D-HOO’s sound remains steadfast to “HOUSE MUSIC”. His sets reveals his personal reflections during the course of self-explorations. D-HOO can bring you to a cruise from chill, sexy melodic sound to the other pole of deep, dark  hypnotic techno vibe. D-Hoo’s mix set provides a distinct transcending experience each and every time he plays in a club.

Relentless on the attempt of making a difference in Macau’s electronic music development and the party scene, he founded MDMA – (Macau Dance Music Association) in November 2012 with a couple of close friends! Since then the journey began which he is impelled to dispense musical insights locally.
