ਅਸੁਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਉਮਾਹੜਾ ਕਿਉ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
asun prem aumaahaRaa kiau mileeaai har jai ||
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ ! (ਭਾਦਰੋਂ ਦੇ ਘੁੰਮੇ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਾਟਕੇ ਲੰਘਣ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ) ਅੱਸੂ (ਦੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਰੁੱਤ) ਵਿਚ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ) ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਉਛਾਲਾ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ (ਮਨ ਤੜਫਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੱਲ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾਂ ।
In the month of Assu, my love for the Lord overwhelms me. How can I go and meet the Lord?

ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪਿਆਸ ਦਰਸਨ ਘਣੀ ਕੋਈ ਆਣਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਮਾਇ ॥
man tan piaas dharasan ghanee koiee aan milaavai mai ||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਬੜੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ (ਚਿੱਤ ਲੋਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਕੋਈ (ਉਸ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ) ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਮੇਲ ਕਰਾ ਦੇਵੇ ।
My mind and body are so thirsty for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. Won't someone please come and lead me to him, O my mother.

ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੇ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਾਇ ॥
sa(n)t sahaiee prem ke hau tin kai laagaa pai ||
(ਇਹ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਕਿ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਧਾਣ ਵਿਚ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗੀ ਹਾਂ ।
The Saints are the helpers of the Lord's lovers; I fall and touch their feet.

ਵਿਣੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਦੂਜੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
vin prabh kiau sukh paieeaai dhoojee naahee jai ||
(ਹੇ ਮਾਂ !) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸੁਖ-ਆਨੰਦ ਦੀ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ।
Without God, how can I find peace? There is nowhere else to go.

ਜਿੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸੁ ਸੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਰਹੇ ਆਘਾਇ ॥
ji(n)n(h)ee chaakhiaa prem ras se tirapat rahe aaghai ||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀਆਂ) ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ (ਇਕ ਵਾਰੀ) ਚੱਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
Those who have tasted the sublime essence of His Love, remain satisfied and fulfilled.

ਆਪੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਕਰਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ॥
aap tiaag binatee kareh leh prabhoo laR lai ||
ਮਾਇਆ ਵੱਲੋਂ) ਉਹ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਆਪਾ‑ਭਾਵ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਅਰਦਾਸਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ—ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ! ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੜ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖ ।
They renounce their selfishness and conceit, and they pray, ""God, please attach me to the hem of Your robe.""

ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੰਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਈਆ ਸਿ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
jo har ka(n)t milaieeaa s vichhuR kateh na jai ||
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਖਸਮ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਉਸ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਵਿੱਛੁੜ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ,
Those whom the Husband Lord has united with Himself, shall not be separated from Him again.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਵਿਣੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥
prabh vin dhoojaa ko nahee naanak har saranai ||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸਚਾ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਸੁਖ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ । ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।
Without God, there is no other at all. Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of the Lord.

ਅਸੂ ਸੁਖੀ ਵਸੰਦੀਆ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥੮॥
asoo sukhee vasa(n)dheeaa jinaa miaa har rai ||8||
ਅੱਸੂ (ਦੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਰੁੱਤ) ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਸੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।੮।
In Assu, the Lord, the Sovereign King, has granted His Mercy, and they dwell in peace. ||8||

ਮਾਈ ਮੋਰੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥
Mother, O my Mother, tell me of my Beloved Lord.
ਹਉੁ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉੁ ਜੈਸੇ ਕਰਹਲੁ ਬੇਲਿ ਰੀਝਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉੁ ॥
Without God, I cannot live even for a moment and trice for I love Him as the camel does the creeper. Pause.
ਹਮਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗ ਬਿਰਕਤੁ ਭਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਮੀਤ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ॥
For the sake of the sight of God, the Friend, my soul has become sad and unattached.
ਜੈਸੇ ਅਲਿ ਕਮਲਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਤੈਸੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
As the black-face-bee cannot live without lotus, so I cannot live without God.
ਰਾਖੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਜਗਦੀਸੁਰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
Keep me under Thine protection O Beloved Master of the Universe and fulfil my faith, O God the World-Lord.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਅਨਦੁ ਹੋਤ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਿਮਖ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥੨॥੩੯॥੧੩॥੧੫॥੬੭॥
Slave Nanak's mind is filled with bliss, when he sees God's sight even for an instant.

ਜੈਸੀ ਭੂਖੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਅਨਾਜ ॥
jaisee bhookhe preet anaaj ||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਭੁੱਖੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਨ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ,
As the hungry person loves food,

ਤ੍ਰਿਖਾਵੰਤ ਜਲ ਸੇਤੀ ਕਾਜ ॥
tirakhaava(n)t jal setee kaaj ||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਿਆਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਗ਼ਰਜ਼ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
and the thirsty person is obsessed with water,

ਜੈਸੀ ਮੂੜ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਪਰਾਇਣ ॥
jaisee mooR kuTa(n)b parain ||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਮੂਰਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਟੱਬਰ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
and as the fool is attached to his family

ਐਸੀ ਨਾਮੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਰਾਇਣ ॥੧॥
aaisee naame preet narain ||1||
ਤਿਵੇਂ (ਮੈਂ) ਨਾਮੇ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ ।੧।
- just so, the Lord is very dear to Naam Dayv. ||1||

ਨਾਮੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
naame preet naarain laagee ||
(ਮੇਰੀ) ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗ ਗਈ ਹੈ,
Naam Dayv is in love with the Lord.

ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਭਇਓ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sahaj subhai bhio bairaagee ||1|| rahaau ||
(ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ, ਨਾਮਦੇਵ) ਕੋਈ ਬਾਹਰਲੇ ਭੇਖ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ ਉਚੇਚ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੀ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
He has naturally and intuitively become detached from the world. ||1||Pause||

ਜੈਸੀ ਪਰ ਪੁਰਖਾ ਰਤ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
jaisee par purakhaa rat naaree ||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਰ ਪਰਾਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
Like the woman who falls in love with another man,

ਲੋਭੀ ਨਰੁ ਧਨ ਕਾ ਹਿਤਕਾਰੀ ॥
lobhee nar dhan kaa hitakaaree ||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਲੋਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਧਨ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, 
and the greedy man who loves only wealth,

ਕਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਾਮਨੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
kaamee purakh kaamanee piaaree ||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਈ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ,
and the sexually promiscuous man who loves women and sex,

ਐਸੀ ਨਾਮੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
aaisee naame preet muraaree ||2||
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਨਾਮੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
just so, Naam Dayv is in love with the Lord. ||2||

ਸਾਈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਜਿ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਏ ॥
saiee preet j aape laae ||
ਪਰ ਅਸਲੀ ਸੁੱਚਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ (ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰੇ,
But that alone is real love, which the Lord Himself inspires;

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਜਾਏ ॥
gur parasaadhee dhubidhaa jaae ||
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
by Guru's Grace, duality is eradicated.

ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਤੂਟਸਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
kabahu na tooTas rahiaa samai ||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਦੇ ਟੁੱਟਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ । 
Such love never breaks; through it, the mortal remains merged in the Lord.

ਨਾਮੇ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਇ ॥੩॥
naame chit laiaa sach nai ||3||
(ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਤੇ) ਨਾਮੇ ਦਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ।੩।
Naam Dayv has focused his consciousness on the True Name. ||3||

ਜੈਸੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਅਰੁ ਮਾਤਾ ॥
jaisee preet baarik ar maataa ||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਂ-ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Like the love between the child and its mother,

ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
aaisaa har setee man raataa ||
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (-ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ । 
so is my mind imbued with the Lord.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵੈ ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
pranavai naamadheau laagee preet ||
ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ—ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਲੱਗ ਗਈ ਹੈ, 
Prays Naam Dayv, I am in love with the Lord.

ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਬਸੈ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਚੀਤਿ ॥੪॥੧॥੭॥
gobidh basai hamaarai cheet ||4||1||7||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਹੁਣ ਸਦਾ) ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੧।੭।
The Lord of the Universe abides within my consciousness. ||4||1||7||

In Satyug, Visnu in the form of Vasudev is said to have incarnated and ‘V’ Of Vahiguru reminds of Visnu.

ਦੁਆਪਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਰੀਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਹਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵੈ।
The true Guru of dvapar is said to be Harikrishan and ‘H’ of Vahiguru reminds of Hari.

ਤੇਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਰਾਮ ਜੀ ਰਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਜਪੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ।
In the the treta was Ram and ‘R’ of Vahiguru tells that remembering Ram will produce joy and happiness.

ਕਲਿਜੁਗਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗਗਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਲਾਵੈ।
In kalijug, Gobind is in the form of Nanak and ‘G’ of Vahiguru gets Govind recited.

ਚਾਰੇ ਜਾਗੇ ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗੀ ਪੰਚਾਇਣ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਾਇ ਸਮਾਵੈ।
The recitations o f all the four ages subsume in Panchayan i.e. in the soul of the common man.

ਚਾਰੋ ਅਛਰ ਇਕੁ ਕਰਿ ਵਾਹਗੁਰੂ ਜਪੁ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਜਪਾਵੈ।
When joining four letters Vahiguru is remembered,

ਜਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਤਹਾਂ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੪੯॥੧॥
The jiv merges again in its origin.
