 ਵਾਹ ਵਾਹ! ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਸਦਕੇ! 
Waahay Guru, Waahay Guru, Waahay Guru, Waahay Jee-o.

ਕਵਲ ਨੈਨ ਮਧੁਰ ਬੈਨ ਕੋਟਿ ਸੈਨ ਸੰਗ ਸੋਭ ਕਹਤ ਮਾ ਜਸੋਦ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਦਹੀ ਭਾਤੁ ਖਾਹਿ ਜੀਉ ॥

ਤੇਰੇ ਕਮਲ ਵਰਗੇ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਹਨ, (ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ) ਮਾਂ ਜਸੋਧਾ ਆਖਦੀ ਸੀ—‘ਹੇ ਲਾਲ (ਆ), ਦਹੀਂ ਚਾਉਲ ਖਾ ।’
You are lotus-eyed, with sweet speech, exalted and embellished with millions of companions. Mother Yashoda invited You as Krishna to eat the sweet rice.

ਦੇਖਿ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਤਿ ਅਨੂਪੁ ਮੋਹ ਮਹਾ ਮਗ ਭਈ ਕਿੰਕਨੀ ਸਬਦ ਝਨਤਕਾਰ ਖੇਲੁ ਪਾਹਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
dhekh roop at anoop moh mahaa mag bhiee ki(n)kanee sabadh jhanatakaar khel paeh jeeau ||
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਖੇਡ ਮਚਾਉਂਦਾ ਸੈਂ, ਤੇਰੀ ਤੜਾਗੀ ਦੀ ਛਣਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਸੀ, ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਤ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਮੁਖੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ (ਮਾਂ ਜਸੋਧਾ) ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ ।
Gazing upon Your supremely beautiful form, and hearing the musical sounds of Your silver bells tinkling, she was intoxicated with delight.

ਕਾਲ ਕਲਮ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਹਾਥਿ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਉਨੁ ਮੇਟਿ ਸਕੈ ਈਸੁ ਬੰਮ੍ਯੁ ਗ੍ਯਾਨੁ ਧ੍ਯਾਨੁ ਧਰਤ ਹੀਐ ਚਾਹਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
kaal kalam hukam haath kahahu kaun meT sakai iees ba(n)maye gayeaan dhayeaan dharat heeaai chaeh jeeau ||
ਕਾਲ ਦੀ ਕਲਮ ਤੇ ਹੁਕਮ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੀ) ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ । ਦੱਸੋ, ਕਉਣ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨੂੰ) ਮਿਟਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ਸ਼ਿਵ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਹੋਏ) ਗਿਆਨ ਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Death's pen and command are in Your hands. Tell me, who can erase it? Shiva and Brahma yearn to enshrine Your spiritual wisdom in their hearts.

ਭਾਗਵਤ ਕੀ ਯਹ ਸੁਧ ਕਥਾ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਤ ਭਰੇ ਭਲੀ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰੀ ॥
bhaagavat kee yeh sudh kathaa bahu baat bhare bhalee bhaat auchaaree ||
ਭਾਗਵਤ ਪੁਰਾਣ (ਦਸਮ ਸਕੰਧ) ਦੀ ਇਹ ਸੁੱਧ ਕਥਾ (ਜੋ) ਬਹੁਤ ਗੱਲਾ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਰਹਾ ਕਹੀ ਹੈ।
This chaste story of Bhagvata has been described very aptly and

ਬਾਕੀ ਕਹੋ ਫੁਨਿ ਅਉਰ ਕਥਾ ਕੋ ਸੁਭ ਰੂਪ ਧਰਿਯੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਮਧਿ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥
baakee kaho fun aaur kathaa ko subh roop dhariyo biraj madh muraaree ||
ਬਾਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਕਹਾਗਾ। (ਉਧਰ) ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
Now I am narrating only from that one  in Braja country Vishnu had assumed the form of Murari

ਦੇਵ ਸਭੈ ਹਰਖੇ ਸੁਨਿ ਭੂਮਹਿ ਅਉਰ ਮਨੈ ਹਰਖੈ ਨਰ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
dhev sabhai harakhe sun bhoomeh aaur manai harakhai nar naaree ||
(ਇਹ ਗੱਲ) ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਆਨੰਦਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ (ਸਭ) ਇਸਤਰੀ-ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
Seeing whom the gods as well as the men and women of the earth were filled with joy,

ਮੰਗਲ ਹੋਹਿ ਘਰਾ ਘਰ ਮੈ ਉਤਰਿਯੋ ਅਵਤਾਰਨ ਕੋ ਅਵਤਾਰੀ ॥੭੬॥
ma(n)gal hoh gharaa ghar mai autariyo avataaran ko avataaree ||76||
ਘਰ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਅਵਤਾਰਾ ਦਾ ਅਵਤਾਰ (ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ) ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੭੬॥
Seeing this incarnation of incarnations, there were rejoicings in every house.76.

ਜਾਗ ਉਠੀ ਜਸੁਧਾ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਪਿਖਿ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਹਿ ਦੇਨ ਲਗੀ ਹੁਨੀਆ ਹੈ ॥
jaag auttee jasudhaa jab hee pikh putreh dhen lagee huneeaa hai ||
ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਜਸੋਧਾ ਜਾਗ ਪਈ, ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਲੋਰੀਆਂ ਦੇਣ ਲਗੀ।
When Yashoda awoke, she became extremely happy on seeing the son,

ਪੰਡਿਤਨ ਕੋ ਅਰੁ ਗਾਇਨ ਕੋ ਬਹੁ ਦਾਨ ਦੀਓ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਗੁਨੀਆ ਹੈ ॥
pa(n)dditan ko ar gain ko bahu dhaan dheeo sabh hee guneeaa hai ||
ਪੰਡਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ, ਗਵੱਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਵਾਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ-ਬਹੁਤ ਦਾਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
She bestowed charities in abundance on the Pundits, singers and talented persons

ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਭਯੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਭਾਮਿਨ ਓਢ ਕੈ ਲਾਲ ਚਲੀ ਚੁਨੀਆ ਹੈ ॥
putr bhayo sun kai birajabhaamin odd kai laal chalee chuneeaa hai ||
(ਨੰਦ ਦੇ ਘਰ) ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਹੋਣਾ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ, ਬ੍ਰਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਲਾਲ ਚੁੰਨੀਆਂ ਓੜ ਕੇ ਤੁਰ ਪਈਆਂ
Knowing about the birth of a son to Yashoda, the women of Braja moved out of their houses wearing red head-cloths

ਜਿਉ ਮਿਲ ਕੈ ਘਨ ਕੇ ਦਿਨ ਮੈ ਉਡ ਕੈ ਸੁ ਚਲੀ ਜੁ ਮਨੋ ਮੁਨੀਆ ਹੈ ॥੭੭॥
jiau mil kai ghan ke dhin mai audd kai su chalee ju mano muneeaa hai ||77||
ਜਿਵੇਾਂ ਬਰਸਾਤ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਨੋ ਲਾਲੜੀਆਂ (ਦੀ ਡਾਰ) ਉਡ ਕੇ ਚਲੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੭੭॥
It seemed that within the clouds, the gems are moving scattered hither and thither.77.

ਡਖਣੇ ਮਃ ੫ ॥
Dakhanay, Fifth Mehla:

ਜੇ ਤੂ ਵਤਹਿ ਅੰਙਣੇ ਹਭ ਧਰਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਕੰਤ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ (ਹਿਰਦੇ-) ਵੇਹੜੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਏਂ, ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਹੀ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
If You come into my courtyard, all the earth becomes beautiful.

ਹਿਕਸੁ ਕੰਤੈ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਮੈਡੀ ਵਾਤ ਨ ਪੁਛੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
ਪਰ ਇਕ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ-ਸੁਰਤਿ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੁੱਛਦਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗਿਆਨ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ ਚਮਕ ਉਠਦੇ ਹਨ । ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਗੁਣ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦਾ) ।੧।
Other than the One Lord, my Husband, no one else cares for me. ||1||

ਆਸਾ ॥
Aasaa:

ਬੋਲੈ ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਅਲਹ ਲਗੇ ॥
ਸ਼ੇਖ਼ ਫ਼ਰੀਦ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ—ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਰੱਬ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ; 
Says Shaykh Fareed, O my dear friend, attach yourself to the Lord.

ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਹੋਸੀ ਖਾਕ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਗੋਰ ਘਰੇ ॥੧॥
(ਤੇਰਾ) ਇਹ ਜਿਸਮ ਨੀਵੀਂ ਕਬਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ ।੧।
This body shall turn to dust, and its home shall be a neglected graveyard. ||1||

ਆਜੁ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦ ਟਾਕਿਮ ਕੂੰਜੜੀਆ ਮਨਹੁ ਮਚਿੰਦੜੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹੇ ਸ਼ੇਖ ਫ਼ਰੀਦ! ਇਸ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ) ਮੇਲ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਚਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
You can meet the Lord today, O Shaykh Fareed, if you restrain your bird-like desires which keep your mind in turmoil. ||1||Pause||

ਜੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਘੁਮਿ ਨ ਆਈਐ ॥
(ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਨ!) ਜਦੋਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਮਰਨਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੁੜ (ਇਥੇ) ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਣਾ,
If I had known that I was to die, and not return again,

ਝੂਠੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਲਗਿ ਨ ਆਪੁ ਵਞਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਗਵਾਉਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ।੨। 
I would not have ruined myself by clinging to the world of falsehood. ||2||

ਬੋਲੀਐ ਸਚੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਨ ਬੋਲੀਐ ॥
ਸੱਚ ਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਹੀ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਝੂਠ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ,
So speak the Truth, in righteousness, and do not speak falsehood.

ਜੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਦਸੈ ਵਾਟ ਮੁਰੀਦਾ ਜੋਲੀਐ ॥੩॥
ਜੋ ਰਸਤਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੱਸੇ ਉਸ ਰਸਤੇ ਤੇ ਮੁਰੀਦਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਤੁਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
The disciple ought to travel the route, pointed out by the Guru. ||3||

ਛੈਲ ਲੰਘੰਦੇ ਪਾਰਿ ਗੋਰੀ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰਿਆ ॥
(ਕਿਸੇ ਦਰੀਆ ਤੋਂ) ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ (ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ) ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਭੀ (ਹੌਸਲਾ ਫੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਲੰਘਣ ਦਾ ਹੀਆ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ; ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ-ਦਿਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Seeing the youths being carried across, the hearts of the beautiful young soul-brides are encouraged.

ਕੰਚਨ ਵੰਨੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਕਲਵਤਿ ਚੀਰਿਆ ॥੪॥
ਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰ! ਵੇਖ) ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਰੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਾਇਆ ਜੋੜਨ ਵਲ ਲੱਗ) ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਆਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਚੀਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਿਤੀਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ) ।੪।
Those who side with the glitter of gold, are cut down with a saw. ||4||

ਸੇਖ ਹੈਯਾਤੀ ਜਗਿ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਥਿਰੁ ਰਹਿਆ ॥
ਹੇ ਸ਼ੇਖ਼ ਫ਼ਰੀਦ! ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਉਮਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੋਗ ਸਕਿਆ 
O Shaykh, no one's life is permanent in this world.

ਜਿਸੁ ਆਸਣਿ ਹਮ ਬੈਠੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਬੈਸਿ ਗਇਆ ॥੫॥
(ਵੇਖ) ਜਿਸ (ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਇਸ) ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਅਸੀ (ਹੁਣ) ਬੈਠੇ ਹਾਂ (ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ) ਕਈ ਬਹਿ ਕੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ।੫।
That seat, upon which we now sit - many others sat on it and have since departed. ||5||

ਕਤਿਕ ਕੂੰਜਾਂ ਚੇਤਿ ਡਉ ਸਾਵਣਿ ਬਿਜੁਲੀਆਂ ॥
ਕੱਤਕ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਕੂੰਜਾਂ (ਆਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ); ਚੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ (ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ), ਸਾਉਣ ਵਿਚ ਬਿਜਲੀਆਂ (ਚਮਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ),
As the swallows appear in the month of Katik, forest fires in the month of Chayt, and lightning in Saawan,

ਸੀਆਲੇ ਸੋਹੰਦੀਆਂ ਪਿਰ ਗਲਿ ਬਾਹੜੀਆਂ ॥੬॥
ਸਿਆਲ ਵਿਚ (ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ) ਸੁਹਣੀਆਂ ਬਾਹਾਂ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਖਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਭਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ 
and as the bride's arms adorn her husband's neck in winter;||6||

ਚਲੇ ਚਲਣਹਾਰ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਲੇਇ ਮਨੋ ॥
(ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਕਾਰ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਮੇ ਸਿਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਤੁਰੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ; ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ) ਤੁਰ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵ (ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਮਾ ਲੰਘਾ ਕੇ) ਤੁਰੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ; 
Just so, the transitory human bodies pass away. Reflect upon this in your mind.

ਗੰਢੇਦਿਆਂ ਛਿਅ ਮਾਹ ਤੁੜੰਦਿਆ ਹਿਕੁ ਖਿਨੋ ॥੭॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ, ਜਿਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਬਣਨ ਵਿਚ ਛੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਇਕ ਪਲ ਹੀ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ।੬।੭।
It takes six months to form the body, but it breaks in an instant. ||7||

ਜਿਮੀ ਪੁਛੈ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਫਰੀਦਾ ਖੇਵਟ ਕਿੰਨਿ ਗਏ ॥
ਹੇ ਫ਼ਰੀਦ! ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਿਮੀਂ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਗਵਾਹ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਇਥੋਂ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੇ ਆਗੂ ਅਖਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ । 
O Fareed, the earth asks the sky, ""Where have the boatmen gone?""

ਜਾਲਣ ਗੋਰਾਂ ਨਾਲਿ ਉਲਾਮੇ ਜੀਅ ਸਹੇ ॥੮॥੨॥
ਸਰੀਰ ਤਾਂ ਕਬਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਗਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਪਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ) ਔਖ-ਸੌਖ ਜਿੰਦ ਸਹਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ ।੮।੨।
Some have been cremated, and some lie in their graves; their souls are suffering rebukes. ||8||2||
