ਮਨ ਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਬਿਚਾਰੋ ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਿਆ ਕਰ 
O mind, contemplate the Sanctuary of God.

ਜਿਹ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਗਨਕਾ ਸੀ ਉਧਰੀ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਜਸੁ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਗਨਕਾ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਣੋਂ) ਬਚ ਗਈ ਸੀ ਤੂੰ ਭੀ, (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖ ।ਰਹਾਉ
Meditating on Him in remembrance, Ganika the prostitute was saved; enshrine His Praises within your heart. ||1||Pause||

ਅਟਲ ਭਇਓ ਧ੍ਰੂਅ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਅਰੁ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਧ੍ਰੂ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਨਿਰਭੈਤਾ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ
Meditating on Him in remembrance, Dhroo became immortal, and obtained the state of fearlessness.

ਦੁਖ ਹਰਤਾ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੈ ਕਾਹੇ ਬਿਸਰਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।੧
The Lord and Master removes suffering in this way - why have you forgotten Him? ||1||

ਜਬ ਹੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਗਹੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਗਜ ਗਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਛੂਟਾ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਹੀ (ਗਜ ਨੇ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆ ਉਹ ਗਜ (ਹਾਥੀ) ਤੰਦੂਏ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਕਲ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ।
As soon as the elephant took to the protective Sanctuary of the Lord, the ocean of mercy, he escaped from the crocodile.

ਮਹਮਾ ਨਾਮ ਕਹਾ ਲਉ ਬਰਨਉ ਰਾਮ ਕਹਤ ਬੰਧਨ ਤਿਹ ਤੂਟਾ ॥੨॥
ਮੈਂ ਕਿਥੋਂ ਤਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੱਸਾਂ? ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ (ਹਾਥੀ) ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਟੱੁਟ ਗਏ ਸਨ ।੨।
How much can I describe the Glorious Praises of the Naam? Whoever chants the Lord's Name, his bonds are broken. ||2||

ਅਜਾਮਲੁ ਪਾਪੀ ਜਗੁ ਜਾਨੇ ਨਿਮਖ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਜਾਮਲ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਸੀ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਅੱਖ ਦੇ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ 
Ajaamal, known throughout the world as a sinner, was redeemed in an instant.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਤ ਚੇਤ ਚਿੰਤਾਮਨਿ ਤੈ ਭੀ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਪਾਰਾ ॥੩॥੪॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ—(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੂੰ) ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚਿਤਵਨੀਆਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ । ਤੂੰ ਭੀ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਏਂਗਾ ।
Says Nanak, remember the Chintaamani, the jewel which fulfills all desires, and you too shall be carried across and saved. ||3||4||

ਘਨਹਰ ਬੂੰਦ ਬਸੁਅ ਰੋਮਾਵਲਿ ਕੁਸਮ ਬਸੰਤ ਗਨੰਤ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
 ਬੱਦਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਣੀਆਂ, ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ, ਬਸੰਤ ਦੇ ਫੁੱਲ—ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ । 
The raindrops of the clouds, the plants of the earth, and the flowers of the spring cannot be counted.

ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਉਦਰੁ ਸਾਗਰ ਕੋ ਗੰਗ ਤਰੰਗ ਅੰਤੁ ਕੋ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
ਸੂਰਜ ਤੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਿਰਨਾਂ, ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦਾ ਪੇਟ ਗੰਗਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਠਿਲ੍ਹਾਂ—ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਕੌਣ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
Who can know the limits of the rays of the sun and the moon, the waves of the ocean and the Ganges?

ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਧਿਆਨ ਗਿਆਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਕਬਿ ਜਨ ਭਲ੍ਯ ਉਨਹ ਜੋੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
ਸ਼ਿਵ ਜੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਹੇ ਭਲ੍ਯ ਕਵੀ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਪਰ-ਦੱਸੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ, 
With Shiva's meditation and the spiritual wisdom of the True Guru, says BHALL the poet, these may be counted.

ਭਲੇ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਤੋਹਿ ਬਨਿ ਆਵੈ ॥੧॥੨੨॥
ਪਰ ਭੱਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਕੁਲ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਏ ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ! ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਵਰਣਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ । ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿਹਾ ਤੰੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ ।੧।੨੨।
O Guru Amar Daas, Your Glorious Virtues are so sublime; Your Praises belong only to You. ||1||22||

ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਪਿਖਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਿਖਹ ॥
 ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸਤ ਸੰਤੋਖ (ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ) ।
Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, the Gursikh is blessed with chanting and deep meditation, truth and contentment.

ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰਹਿ ਤੇ ਉਬਰਹਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਜਮ ਪੁਰ ਕੀ ਲਿਖਹ ॥
 ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਜਮ-ਪੁਰੀ ਦੀ ਲਿਖਤ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Whoever seeks His Sanctuary is saved; his account is cleared in the City of Death.

ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਭਰਪੂਰੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਉਚਰੈ ਕਰਤਾਰੈ ॥
(ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੀ) ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ;
His heart is totally filled with loving devotion; he chants to the Creator Lord.

ਗੁਰੁ ਗਉਹਰੁ ਦਰੀਆਉ ਪਲਕ ਡੁਬੰਤ੍ਯਹ ਤਾਰੈ ॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਅਮਰਦਾਸ) ਗੰਭੀਰ ਹੈ, ਦਰੀਆ-ਦਿਲ ਹੈ, ਡੁੱਬਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਲ ਵਿਚ ਤਾਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The Guru is the river of pearls; in an instant, he carries the drowning ones across.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕੁਲਿ ਨਿੰਮਲੁ ਅਵਤਰਿ੍ਯਉ ਗੁਣ ਕਰਤਾਰੈ ਉਚਰੈ ॥
 (ਗੁਰੂ) ਨਾਨਕ (ਦੇਵ ਜੀ) ਦੀ ਕੁਲ ਵਿਚ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਨਿਰਮਲ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
He was reincarnated into the House of Guru Nanak; He chants the Glorious Praises of the Creator Lord.

ਗੁਰੁ ਅਮਰਦਾਸੁ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ ਸੇਵਿਅਉ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ ਦੁਖੁ ਦਰਿਦ੍ਰੁ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਪਰੈ ॥੩॥੧੭॥
 ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੱੁਖ ਤੇ ਦਰਿਦ੍ਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।੧੭।
Those who serve Guru Amar Daas - their pains and poverty are taken away, far away. ||3||17||
