A Tribute to K-Hand -- MUSIC FROM A WELL KNOWN PLACE

This month on my radio show, we pay tribute to Kelli Hand, the Detroit house & techno legend who has left us with a deep and far-reaching electronic music cultural legacy. She was the first woman to release house and techno records in the 1990’s, paving the way for (black) women/femme DJs and producers to grow into a heavily-male dominated industry.

Without ever slowing down, K-Hand released over 60 albums and EPs of soulful, sample-heavy house and motor techno that defined the early sounds of the genre itself, and which will continue to bang at clubs for as long as we gather to dance… Her power is present, today and always.
