Welcome to the aural tapestry, "Locales." Fusing electronic rhythms with the essence of house and jungle, the latest concoction of label co-founder Lex Barlin invites you on this sojourn through the labyrinthine heart of Eora's underground. Playfully effervescent synths, trampolining basslines, and intricate percussion intertwine to create an EP truly meant for the dancefloor.

Inspired by the unique reverberations of diverse locales, Barlin harnesses convolution reverb to immortalize the acoustic signatures of his hometown's iconic spaces. Each track on "Locales" is a well-earned nod to these sanctuaries. 

"90s Violet" entwines countermelodies that insinuate playfulness without succumbing to cheer, eventually descending into a maelstrom of mounting tension. 

"Douglas Street" unveils synths that resemble machines conversing in an alien dialect—cryptic yet profoundly resonant in their emotive essence. 

"Club 77" guides you into the beloved club's hidden recesses, offering respite from the fervent dancefloor, before catapulting you back with a gelatinous and sinuous bassline. 

"St Peter's Tunnel" culminates the odyssey with tumultuous breakbeat jungle rhythms, concluding with '90s-era rave stabs that strike with the force and exhilaration of a runaway freight train.

Lex Barlin - Locales

Sanguine (Robert Hughes) brings us "Softer Than You Think", a fascinating collection of works exploring a variety of styles. First we hear the title track, an acidic thumper ornamented with floating pads. This is followed by a dubby, UK-bass inspired tune, "Inviting Thought," which elevates the energy levels towards "Somethang," a glitchy dancefloor track with explorative rhythms. Finally, "A Movie in Which Someone is Soul Searching," provides a soft-landing for a time-stretched breakbeat bonanza to calm the mind and spirit.

Askham & S.Tonkin are hosts of the Construct show on Sydney based station, Nomad Radio and curators of the global guest mix series dubbed ‘Constructions’ - a series that brings together a wide spectrum of underground electronic artists within the dance music ecosphere, both local and international.
The duo have supported the likes of Djrum and Pariah, while their Construct brand has hosted parties for artists such as Special Request, Peverelist, Addison Groove and more. They also share a fascination for the sounds of highly abstract and hypnotic techno, crunchy, driving electro, and the percussion-locked grooves of UK bass music.

Assembler Code programs a unique sound which combines hard hitting machine noise with funky percussion on Sci-fi soundscapes - blasting out a modern take on the classic electro and techno sound - while behind the decks, he delivers a wide range sounds ranging from classic Electro, drum breaks to hard hitting techno; Maximum transfer speed, straight to the minds on the dance floor.

Lunar Launch marks the sophomore release for Sydney-based producer Glen S and the fifth release for local label Dialectic Recordings.
Beginning with the title track, Glen S winds the clock down for a slow and steady start. Airy pads gently suspend the listener in zero gravity as the rising resonance of squelchy stereo transmissions are beamed from the control tower in anticipation for lift-off. 
With the engines warmed up and rockets thrusting, Alien Acid brings not only a slight increase in G-force, but also a diverse taste of flavours. Starting off with classic electro rhythms and 303-lines, Glen S showcases his ambitious character as he takes a sudden four-to-the-floor detour before dropping an unlikely half-time beat that will rattle the foundations of even the sturdiest of edifices.
The voyage continues with Gatewayed Rugs, a punchy electro cut with contortionist melodies and a combination of claps and snares that leave a bright red spank-welt on the surface of anything they come into contact with. Hypnotic as well as groovy, this track explores variations in timbre and mood with flawless transitioning and a genuine commitment to capturing the entirety of your attentional facilities. 
River View culminates our travels through the fabric of space and time and beckons the listener to take pause and reflect, as rolling rhythms flow on with the permanence of celestial currents through the galaxy. One feels at peace having finally landed on the moon, as arpeggios and drones serenade us before we bid them farewell - for now.
