We welcome back the Japanese techno legend Ken Ishii for a new EP on Tronic. This time he delivered two peak time tracks with his trademark melodies and energy! We have recruited Belgium's Filterheadz, and Spain's Oscar L for remix duties. Both remixes show the top level of talent of these producers! Well done!

After a spirited debut on DIALNINE, Montreal talent Hillel Shabtai returns to the label with a scintillating second in- stalment in the form of the 'Testimony' EP.

The title cut sees the worlds of breakbeat and house music collide in a high-octane dance-floor thriller. The track once again showcases the young Canadian's stellar vocal flair and his deft touch for crafting lush body-movers.

Joining 'Testimony' on the EP is the sumptuous, laidback groover 'Equals 5'. A certified party starter in its own right, the track fuses rolling hi-hats, delectable vocal touches and an inimitable bass-line.

Closing out the EP, is the Midnight Visions Mix of the title track. The rework turns in a powerful, straight-ahead twist, centred around a gnarly, late-nite low end.

"  An artist with a growing reputation within the underground dance fraternity, Sebastian Sellares makes his Meanwhile debut with his "Dunes at Dawn" EP.

After a 2018 debut for PHW Elements, Sebastian Sellares has made increasingly sizeable waves with his smooth and unique musical style. Already seeing his music signed to an array of high-profile imprints including onedotsixtwo, UV and Or Two Strangers, Proton Music's "Zen State / Jinsei" was a further notable highlight in October 2020 including remixes from Matias Chilano and Bedrock's Nick Muir.

The title-track opener is a gloriously atmospheric offering that builds gently over a rhythmic foundation of rolling top-line groove and pounding beat. Filtered pads soon enter the fray followed by atmospheric birdsong effects and rippling arpeggiated synth line that resonate with the "Dunes at Dawn" title. Rising to a spine-tingling zenith at the mid-point alongside deep, captivating bassline, the second half continues the rich melodic collage creating a sumptuous start to the EP.

Continuing the powerful rhythmic basis of the opener, "The Stars Above" scintillates with its chugging rhythmic vibe and syncopated bassline pattern. Evolving through subtle percussive urgency, dreamlike pads float across the mid-range beside steam-powered white noise waves, before intricately programmed synth plucks complete the foundations. Before long, undulating arpeggios glitter in delayed patterns as counterpoint phrasing adds emotion and guile to create a contemplative offering.

"Nocturne" completes the musical triptych, revelling in a subtle melodic hypnotism that blends acid-tinged loop with flowing analogue motifs. Panning the stereo spectrum with plucked phrases, a magnificent combination of counterpoint melodies rise and fall across a nine-minute magnum opus that results in another string to Sellares' increasingly powerful bow.

Release thirty-two on Manjumasi presents a variety of reinterpretations of last year’s vinyl release Instant Transmission, from label founder atish together with Vridian.

A broad selection of remixers showcases the variety of sounds and styles that find a home in atish’s sets and in the Manjumasi label catalog. First up, Map.ache offers a groove-driven smooth and floaty remix of Touch & Go, well balanced with intricate details.

Next up, Mihai Popoviciu & Markus Homm do what they do best, putting some dance floor heat on Instant Transmission with a super-sturdy bassline groove and dubby textures floating over the mix.

Fast-rising Japanese producer boys be kko turns in two melodic mixes,with the Sanya Mix featuring a ripping unique synth lead, and the Yanagi Edit focusing on the deeper side of the groove and textures. iO Mulen takes things in a unique direction with a breakbeat-infused remix that mixes throwback elements with edgy modern sound design.

Finally, Indian producer Kohra wraps up the package with a late night interpretation, dark and dub-infused with molten metallic textures.

Ross Kiser steps up for Sublease Music with two new down-and-dirty tracks that reflect the maturing of his sound over the last few years. 

The US-based artist set out to make a darker, minimal EP highlighting synth work and textures to create groove and atmosphere, and succeeded completely.  

Catacombs is a deep and dark rolling joint that foregrounds intricate synths and sounds over drums and percussion. As Ross explains, “I wanted to create a sense of tension and release that not only worked in a groovy sense but also for the dancefloor. I chose and created sounds that in my ears had power and depth, and I’m super happy with the end result.” 

Next up is Differently which uses a similar sound palette but with a slightly more house-y result. Again Ross breaks down his thinking; “It has a slightly housier (deep) and groovier feel to it, featuring a more melodic bassline that is meant to get you moving. I love playing with vocals and so when I found the “hook” or the simple yet elegant “Differently” vocal stab, it immediately worked and sat nice in the mix”. 

Nürnberg based Markus Homm rounds off the EP with a stripped down and even deeper remix of Catacombs.
