Macro Hits with Diamin & 99's Duo @ The Lot Radio 11-29-2021

On 13th November 2021, we landed and returned home once more: back in our rightful place of Dare To nightclub. Picture the scene (once more):

Super-sub DJ Boursin had stepped in last minute for COVID-fallen DJ Mooncup, pulsing his heavy as a house super subs through the main room, leaving no unaddressed club-cum-capitalist trauma untouched. Elena Colombi then slipped right on in, warping the UV paint on the walls to a new shade of weird. Her signature idiosyncratic chug, tampered with a charming yet chilling darkness, that on a slow and steady boil, tickled the room, tendon to toes. Then, N-R-G-FLASH, Oceanic rises from the waters...

Liquid fire licking and scolding; rigid and shifting steel structures. Pure BODY music. Bumping hard all the way through from hip to skull. The eclecticism of styles are held tight in a vice of lean and mean method and movement, slowly shifting shades in the blur of frenetic fray. 

Here is the sound of an artist who knows just when to lean into the lean grids of lights and when it's time to let go, lean back and let the music do the screaming. Also, that wiiiiiild midset tempo shifter? It's beauty in the madness and I'm so so damn happy he came through so hard.

He may be Dutch, but Oceanic's understanding of broken poly-riddims makes you wonder if he was born under the (continu-)Nuum-shaded moon. Damn, he even stressed how un-UK my "tech-house with colours of other" closing set was. And yeh coming from a performance like his, I had to take it tbh. Especially when he opened with a special dub comprised of voicenote I'd sent him. Big fucking lols. We love to see it.

GET LOOSE #4 -  Oceanic

I am sooo happy to host a mix by one of my dear friends and favourite DJs to have graced the Melbourne/ Naarm scene in recent years, @differentshadess . Anis is a powerhouse DJ known for her deep dives into techno, trance and 170+ rhythms. 

Malaysian born, she has lived in Aus for the last 10 years and recently relocated to Berlin.  She has also recently started releasing some incredible productions, collaborating with another special Melbourne artist @loifian with a recent release on an @ute-rec x @amniote-editions compilation. 

Anis has a beautiful ability to tell stories through her music and mixes, no matter how calm or turbo the energy. This one is no exception.

Animix Seventy Four: Different Shades

@priori-ties is an alias of Montréal-based Québecois musician, Francis Latreille. In 2019, he released the thematic full length ‘On A Nimbus’ for his own label NAFF (which he runs with Ex-Terrestrial), showcasing the breadth and scope of his production. The more recent ‘SCN’ EP released on Canadian label DustWORLD, further strengthened his sound and showed the hypnotic potential of his music. Since then, he has kept exploring different avenues, releasing the uplifting trance single ‘Infinity’ and a series of thrillingly rugged tracks under his RED alias. 

Since its inception in 2018, NAFF's uncompromising releases have shown Latreille’s eccentrically-tuned ear for curation – this managed to land them in Mixmag's Best Labels of 2018 list. The young label shows no signs of stopping, having recently released a string of refreshing records by fellow Canadian artists Ambien Baby, URA & Maara. 

Known to be an avid collaborator, Latreille is involved in a number of projects including Jump Source, M.S.L., New World Science, Healion, ANF and more. His knack for textural sounds and his technical proficiency in the studio have led him to work on numerous projects by fellow artists (Ex-Terrestrial, Roza Terenzi, D. Tiffany, Escape Artist, Gene Tellem, to name a few). Whether live or as a DJ, Priori brings a uniquely hypnotic sound that sustains a dance floor while creating an atmosphere informed by the worlds of science fiction and fantasy that are so dear to him.

Tammo Hesselink (Amsterdam) presents his wide range of adventurous rhythmic flows. Recently launched his new Rear View Window imprint as an outlet for his own works next to an exciting set of EPs lined up for the Delsin Mantis series, London's Blank Mind and his homebase Nous'klaer Audio. Expect a wild take on techno with stark minimalism and sub heavy rhythms.

New mix for you and its goodie! 

Through the more positive connective powers of the metaverse, we became aware of Takumi after he commented on one of our crews mixes, forging a new friendship and prompting us to add him to a small trance FB community. Sharing music and insightful knowledge of his own involvement in the early 00's trance scene in Japan, naturally linked him with other collectives and label owners who have since hosted his mixes and been able to show case his selector skills.  Missing the boat slightly to extend our own invitation, the excitement when we did has clearly been channeled deeply into providing us with the prefect S:S mix that we're very happy to share.
