Our 19th podcast is recorded by the UK-based @adampits, whom you might know from his sick releases on labels such as Coastal Haze, Planet Euphorique, HAWS and Holding Hands. His sound is hypnotic and versatile, to say the least, and we're extremely happy with his contribution to our series.

Adam's words about the mix: "Having recorded many mixes over the last year I wanted to do something slightly different this time round. For this mix i explore the deeper, darker side of my taste, prompting me to spend more time on making each transition sound as clean and long as possible. Shut your eyes, turn it up loud and let your mind wander 🛰."

Qommon invites Priori to record a sublime mix for Bangkok Community Radio. The mix ranges from deep electronic to cascading breaks - one of the best!

Under the Priori Moniker, Québecois musician Francis Latreille has established himself as a crucial voice in underground techno. His 2019 full-length debut On A Nimbus, released on his own NAFF imprint, was a haunting foray into the possibility/impossibility of technological utopia, where elements of dub techno, drum & bass, IDM, and tech-house curiously converged, resulting in an album at once familiar, modern, and undeniably singular. Francis followed that with a string of essential releases–from the slow-burning techy meditations of SCN and Little Flower to the anthemic, trance-inflected Infinity–ending with 2021’s Your Own Power. Where On A Nimbus is overtly pensive and opaque, Your Own Power rises to a lighter and more joyful atmosphere, full of fractalizing patterns, ear-prickling textures, and crystalline melodies that emerge and flicker in stunning detail. Here, as in all Priori’s music, there remains an unresolved tension of opposites; between the biological and the synthetic, the actual and the possible, the positive and the negatively charged. In this way, this body work stands as a study of nature of a kind, a science of life in its myriad forms. 

Priori is also an accomplished mixing engineer; a quick search will reveal an exhaustive list of credits on projects by Roza Terenzi, D. Tiffany, Escape Artist, Bambii, Gene Tellem, Maara, and ex terrestrial, to name a few. Between the label he runs with Adam Feingold (aka ex terrestrial) and the studio he runs with Patrick Holland, Francis is quietly shaping the course of underground electronic dance music in Canada and abroad.

Through his Sonic Fiction residency on Radio Tempo Nao Para, and Sunday Sedatives podcast for RPU, Tosh has been feeding our ears with ambient soundscapes and eclectic selections opening our minds for some time now. But at a TNP event at De Schietclub, we discovered another side of his selection as together with Marijn S they elevated an already steamy room with a breaks and techno selection of very high caliber. It caught our ears and called for more.

Tosh offered us a podcast that goes back to the core of house and techno as the Detroit legends defined both genres. The selection is surgical, the mixing organic, and the journey groovy and hypnotic. About this recording, he had a few words to share:

"For me, the center of mass of this mix rests on an amazing record by a Dutch producer, Alex Dijksterhuis, that I have been after for quite some time. When I walked into Killacutz a month ago, Richard said he finally found a second copy (the first one was for his own collection and we listened to it in the store together. With these old records, every one of them has its own unique balance in sound. After the first section, when the breaks come in, it feels like the low-end suddenly opens up in the most beautiful way - and that “you're on my mind” vocal gets me every time!"

This mix is the craft of a great selector. One that breathes music, and searches for deeper meanings and connections. Tosh is more than an artist; he is also a builder and one that silently instils dynamism and openness for both the culture and communities that surround him.

We are more than happy to have him part of this series, and we hope that you will dive into this recording, ears open, and feet ready.
