Brooklyn’s own Teflon showcases his pen game on “Life in the FEDS,” which offers an uncompromising look at the U.S. criminal justice system and the lives it consumes. The single is produced by frequent collaborator Jazimoto, who brings a menacing funk to the track, with cuts supplied by the legendary DJ Premier. He and Jazimoto actually split the production duties on Tef’s forthcoming LP, appropriately titled, 'Two Sides to Every Story.'

Teflon - Life in the FEDS (feat. DJ Premier)

M.O.P. affiliate Teflon delivers the uplifting, funky remix of his latest single, “Life in the FEDS,” featuring cuts from DJ Premier and slick production from Jazimoto. Jaz actually produced the original track, which had a raw, more somber vibe. On the remix, she flips it into an anthemic banger with a live band sound that would make The J.B.'s proud. 

The remix is available now through all digital retailers and streaming platforms through Teflon’s 420 Music label in partnership with Coalmine Records. Coalmine Records is pleased for yet another rerelease of ‘Land of the Crooks,’ the collaborative extended play project from the late Sean Price and Melbourne’s go to producer, M-Phazes. 

The project finds the longtime underground legend lending his distinctive, Brownsville-bred grimy vocals over Phazes’ rich tracks full of dramatic pianos, rich bass-lines, swinging horns and hard drums.

The A-side includes the main passes, comprised of four original tracks with the addition of the Small Professor Remix for ”Murdah Type Thinkin (feat. Guilty Simpson).” For this special edition rerelease, Coalmine has also added the Divided Souls Ent. & DJ Pain 1 Remix of “Land of the Crooks,” which was only previously made available on the label’s remix compilation, ‘Remineded,’ which first dropped back in January of 2015.

The B-side includes the instrumental passes of all of the original tracks, as well as the Small Pro Remix, in addition to the “Crookapella,” which includes various scratch stems taken from the EP, in addition to various isolated drum sounds, sound effects, and acapella of the “Land of the Crooks” single.

Additional features on LOTC include Roc Marciano, Billy Danze (of M.O.P.), Maffew Ragazino, Loudmouf Choir and the Dilated Junky, DJ Babu.

Vinyl is manufactured on a blue and green swirled configuration, limited to just 500 Units, and comes complete with the Andres Guzman designed artwork, inspired by the vintage ‘80s movie, ‘Crocodile Dundee.’

Coalmine Records is proud to release a Record Store Day exclusive version of “Perfect Timing” in limited-edition blue vinyl. 

The track is led by Hip-Hop architect C.L. Smooth, who delivers his mission statement as soon as he touches the mic: “I’m here to hit ‘em with that sure-to-be-a-classic.” He drives that point home with sincere, sharp rhymes about both his legacy in the game and his future plans to keep creating. Given that this is the man who released Mecca And The Soul Brother and The Main Ingredient alongside boom-bap pioneer Pete Rock, it’s safe to say hip-hop needs C.L. Smooth.

Riding shotgun is Brooklyn-based indie-rap stalwart Skyzoo, who complements his host with poignant and passionate bars. The two prove to be a formidable team, especially with Australian producer M-Phazes behind the boards. His warm, sample-fueled instrumental adds depth to what’s proven to be one of the finest cuts in Coalmine’s library of sometimes-slept-on gems.

Big Noyd, Large Professor & Kool G Rap - "Naturally Born" (prod. by Ayatollah)

One of the earliest songs of RAM and was even a soundtrack to the 1993 Tom Hanks' movie Philadelphia.

The Ibo or Igbo is an ethnic group in West Africa. In Haitian vodou, it is a "nation" honored and recognized within the practice that some Haitians trace their ancestry to. It is said the song (rhythm) is of the Igbo people who lived in Elele, Nigeria and were transported to Haiti as slaves. Hence the title "Ibo lele" and the hommage.

Background: RAM (stands for the initial of its founder) is one of the most prominent vodou-themed bands in Rasin (roots) music. Created in 1990 by Richard A. Morse (mother is Emerante de Pradines, Haitian folklore dancer and singer) who moved to Port-au-Prince, seeking to explore Haitian and Caribbean music, RAM is known for its interesting fusion of traditional music and rock n' roll. As beloved as they are and known for being the people's voice, the group has survived kidnapping threats, assissination threats because of their tendency to speak out against government regimes in their music. Richard, and his wife Lunise are the group's lead singers.
