Brooklyn’s own Teflon showcases his pen game on “Life in the FEDS,” which offers an uncompromising look at the U.S. criminal justice system and the lives it consumes. The single is produced by frequent collaborator Jazimoto, who brings a menacing funk to the track, with cuts supplied by the legendary DJ Premier. He and Jazimoto actually split the production duties on Tef’s forthcoming LP, appropriately titled, 'Two Sides to Every Story.'

Coalmine Records is pleased for yet another rerelease of ‘Land of the Crooks,’ the collaborative extended play project from the late Sean Price and Melbourne’s go to producer, M-Phazes. 

The project finds the longtime underground legend lending his distinctive, Brownsville-bred grimy vocals over Phazes’ rich tracks full of dramatic pianos, rich bass-lines, swinging horns and hard drums.

The A-side includes the main passes, comprised of four original tracks with the addition of the Small Professor Remix for ”Murdah Type Thinkin (feat. Guilty Simpson).” For this special edition rerelease, Coalmine has also added the Divided Souls Ent. & DJ Pain 1 Remix of “Land of the Crooks,” which was only previously made available on the label’s remix compilation, ‘Remineded,’ which first dropped back in January of 2015.

The B-side includes the instrumental passes of all of the original tracks, as well as the Small Pro Remix, in addition to the “Crookapella,” which includes various scratch stems taken from the EP, in addition to various isolated drum sounds, sound effects, and acapella of the “Land of the Crooks” single.

Additional features on LOTC include Roc Marciano, Billy Danze (of M.O.P.), Maffew Ragazino, Loudmouf Choir and the Dilated Junky, DJ Babu.

Max I Million - "A Vibe Called Blessed"

After releasing the stunning Uncut Gems instrumental project last year, Swedish beatsmith Max I Million is back at it with a new single, “A Vibe Called Blessed,” taken from his forthcoming follow-up LP.

As you may have guessed from the track’s title, this is a loving homage to the legendary ATCQ. In particular, “A Vibe…” takes the sound and style of Tribe’s classic third album, Midnight Marauders, and synthesizes it into one track. Max’s instrumental is full of the warmth and jazz-influenced grooves heard throughout MM.

“A Vibe Called Blessed” is the lead focus track taken from Max’s upcoming album, Shine On…, which serves as a sequel of sorts to his Coalmine debut, Uncut Gems. The 12 track LP is set to drop this summer both digitally and on vinyl in multiple configurations. Adam Baptiste, also know as ADL, pioneered Swedish rap in the early '90s, reaching legendary status. Touring with artists like Fugees, A Tribe Called Quest and many others. His flawless delivery, seamless flows, timeless topics and undeniable soul has inspired countless artists to date. Nowadays Adam works as a songwriter worldwide and seldom raps, unless it’s for a good reason. "Medicine" is that good reason. Big Noyd, Large Professor & Kool G Rap - "Naturally Born" (prod. by Ayatollah)

One of the earliest songs of RAM and was even a soundtrack to the 1993 Tom Hanks' movie Philadelphia.

The Ibo or Igbo is an ethnic group in West Africa. In Haitian vodou, it is a "nation" honored and recognized within the practice that some Haitians trace their ancestry to. It is said the song (rhythm) is of the Igbo people who lived in Elele, Nigeria and were transported to Haiti as slaves. Hence the title "Ibo lele" and the hommage.

Background: RAM (stands for the initial of its founder) is one of the most prominent vodou-themed bands in Rasin (roots) music. Created in 1990 by Richard A. Morse (mother is Emerante de Pradines, Haitian folklore dancer and singer) who moved to Port-au-Prince, seeking to explore Haitian and Caribbean music, RAM is known for its interesting fusion of traditional music and rock n' roll. As beloved as they are and known for being the people's voice, the group has survived kidnapping threats, assissination threats because of their tendency to speak out against government regimes in their music. Richard, and his wife Lunise are the group's lead singers.

Spiffler continues to impress with each new release, and he’s gained a steady following over the years with a number of projects including a Chance the Rapper tribute that the Chicago rapper himself cosigned. Massachusetts- based producer CHEATCODE gives Nas' classic "Street Dreams," taken from his sophomore album It Was Written,' a rather imaginative mashup of the time-honored single. By combining elements of both Aerosmith's 1973 single "Dream On" and Ol' Blue Eye's vintage ballad "Young at Heart," over CHEATCODE's crushing percussion, trembling bassline and crunchy synths, the Commonwealth producer skillfully blends over five decades of music history into one seamless remix. “Somethin’ Ain’t Right” is a powerful, politically charged new single from Brooklyn emcee Teflon and his go-to producer, Jazimoto. It perfectly captures the state of our country as a whole, particularly how systemic racism is being unveiled for the entire world to see.

The track highlights the widespread division in the U.S. and how racism has been at the root of it all. You can see it clearly in numerous current events including the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, and most recently the storming of the U.S. Capitol that was egged on by President Trump.

The “Somethin’” that’s not right? White supremacy. And Teflon takes it to task with thoughtful, honest lyricism that portrays the tension and frustrations of being Black in America. Making it sound even more powerful is the production from Jazimoto, who blends vocal samples with crushing drums to capture Tef’s passion.
