I invite you to listen to my recent radio podcast interview where I was fortunate to appear as a guest of Kailean Welsh on WDRT radio discussing the opportunity to move to paradise.

Kailean is a holistic psychotherapist and wisdom guide, and we met while she was spending several months here in Isla Mujeres with the purpose of hosting a transformational women's retreat. We recorded this interview here in paradise - what a treat!

We discussed how I got the courage to move lock, stock, and barrel to Mexico almost 4 years ago, and what I learned and experienced through the process. 

We discussed the phenomenon of how your life becomes more vibrant and memorable when you live abroad because you are putting down new memories in a new environment. And the lifestyle encourages more activity and socialization for a vibrant active lifestyle so you feel younger and happier.

We discussed the fact that you can work successfully in paradise today more than ever before because of the technological advances brought about by the pandemic. Kailean has disconfirmed that she can successfully serve her patients working remotely today, so she can keep her practice going during the months that she spends in Mexico.

And I have run my career coaching business successfully working in paradise. My clients never know I'm not back in San Antonio unless I tell them.

We discussed security which is a major concern, and we agreed that we feel more safe and secure here in Isla than back in the States, in great part because safety is such a priority for the government focused on tourism development. 

Health care is a great concern for people considering spending time in Mexico, and we discussed the incredibly low cost of quality medical care here in Mexico, where costs are about 10 - 20% of what it costs back in the States. I've had 3 major surgeries here in Mexico, which were covered by Medicare Advantage plan, and I felt I received excellent quality care.

We discussed the low cost of living in Mexico, and innovative models where you can take advantage of the best of both worlds by adopting the snowbird lifestyle, or splitting the work month to maintain your income while spending half your time in your dream location.

We have been gifted another whole generation in our lives - 20 years from the expected lifespan of 60 when we were born to the 80s today, and how we can reinvent our lives to live those extra years fully and joyfully - perhaps in paradise like I have done.
