The 'Saved For The Rave' guest mix series continues on this week's show, where DJ guests deliver me 30 minute mixes featuring tracks that have been released during the past year and that they have been saving up for their first club gig back post-Covid. This week, I welcome Hyyken from Dundalk, Co. Louth, to the decks!

Having started to play around with DJing and Production at the age of 14, Hyyken (aka Taroch Duffy) quickly moulded his inspirations of Justice, Robert Hood, Daft Punk, The Prodigy and Skream into an amalgamated mash of bass-driven musical output.   Having played numerous gigs locally in Dundalk for years, his first festival appearance was a techno set at Absolute Deep’s Kahuna festival, a performance that brought his skills to the masses. He went onto to combine with fellow Dundalkian Decksta to form Couch Crew Collective, now known as Couch.  He has played at various festivals around Ireland such as AVA Castle Party, Fuinneamh, Kahuna, Enter The Coven 2 & 3, and Flame Festival. 

Hyyken has had tracks supported by a whole variety of Irish DJs as well as international superstar DJ Jamie Jones, owner of the Hot Creations record label, along with other acts such as Elliot Adamson.   He has released a number of EPs in the past year, including a huge release on Monki's &friends label, and it seems like the best is still yet to come from this up-and-coming Irish producer!

This week, I welcome rising Irish duo Obskur to the decks!

Hailing from Dublin, Obskür have begun to make a name for themselves since landing on the scene in early 2019. The duo, consisting of Lorcan McCarthy & Faustas Astrauskas, have played headline and support shows across some of Ireland's biggest parties including Konspiracy in Dublin & Project in Waterford city.

Obskur's first single, ‘Bayside’ on FFRR, has been building in momentum and popularity since it's release, racking up over 18 million streams and featuring in over 50,000 TikTok videos so far. As well as support from the likes of Danny Howard, Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Jaguar, Jax Jones, MistaJam  and many more big names, the duo continue to make their staple on Irish and UK shores.

Obskür continue to grow their fan base, with 800,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and 10,000 streams a day on soundcloud, meaning that they are certainly ones to watch in the months ahead!

David, who is based in Heidelberg in South-Western Germany, is one of the most exciting new producers of the past 3-4 years and I've been such a huge fan of his productions during this time; his recent collaboration with Georgia, 'Get Me Higher', has been on repeat for me since I first heard it earlier in the year and the track got crowned as my 'Track of the Week' a few weeks ago on the show too! David's new remix for Jessie Ware, as part of her 'Where's Your Pleasure' Deluxe album, features in his mix for us this week so keep your ears peeled for that along with so much more!

This week, however, things are a little bit different!

On February 22nd, it was announced that, after an absolutely incredible 28-year journey together, Daft Punk are hanging up those robot helmets and calling it a day. They announced the news via an 8-minute video on social media entitled 'Epilogue', and the news was also confirmed by their publicist that same day. Needless to say, people have been talking about little else ever since!

As a huge fan of the two Parisian robots and everything they have done for dance music since the middle of the 1990s, it has been my privilege to put together this special extended High Fidelity Radio show to help celebrate their amazing legacy and pay tribute to them.

Expect 2 hours of non stop Daft Punk music on this week's show, from the 'Homework' era right through to the release of 'Random Access Memories' in 2013 (and beyond); expect tracks from both Thomas and Guy-Man's solo work on the Roulé and Crydamour record labels in the late 90s/early 00s, as well as their work on the TRON:Legacy soundtrack a decade later. Plus so much more!

This is the ultimate celebration of the music of Daft Punk from someone that has been hugely influenced by them for so many years; I hope you enjoy the show and please share the link with the Daft Punk fans in your life who you feel absolutely need to hear it!
