I started to work on this track 3 years ago, and I think I finally found the sweet spot I was looking for. Aiming to land somewhere between raw strength and a natural softness. 

Beyond one clear emotion, one clear genre, or any rigid parameter that could create division. 

I was looking for some kind of universal color and found it in the shades of One Destination. 

It is about about this wild seed we all have inside, you can hear it blooming towards the end of the track. Creating a feeling of gathering, of unity. 

It is my pleasure to share this with you today.

When I got my Moog Grandmother, one of the first things I did was to record improvised takes on top of my favorite tracks. One hand on the keys, and the other on the knobs. Here I am playing along my favorite Gould X Laredo interpretation. The synth is at times too strong, at times too weak, but I left it untouched, the way it was recorded, eyes closed, with the intensity that felt right at that time.

Our fourth podcast comes from one of the newest Oleeva family members, @Didacte.  He has provided us with 91 minutes of exceptional music and was kind enough to answer some of our questions. Enjoy!

- Tell us about yourself please Adrien, who are you, what you do and why you do it? 

"Adrien, french guy living in Spain, Madrid. 3 things constantly in my life for many years now: Spirituality, Mathematics and Music. 

Spirituality as I love to experience life in various ways, to expose myself to my fears, to loneliness, to silence, to the unknown. Not waiting for the storm to pass, but learn how to dance under the rain. I try to meditate constantly, to be somehow in contact with the true nature of things, sensations and relationships.

Mathematics as this is what I studied, many years, and what I do everyday, building predictive models for a spanish company. My rational and analytic self, at the same time really far from the intuitive insight of spirituality, and really close to it, as mathematics teach the brain to open itself to the perception of bigger spaces, to more dimensions, and to create solutions from a huge list of possible ingredients. 

Music, well I have been playing the piano and the guitar for more than 10 years, and also drums in some rock bands. I . Totally. Deeply. Love. Classical music. Working for months on a piano score written hundred years ago by a special man, and progressively understand the journey and the emotions he tries to communicate, is an incredible feeling. A connection to something immortal, beyond words. I love how surprising can be classical music. How in one move you can go from euphoria to melancholy. With one finger move. And now I am stuck in the infinite liberty of electronic music. It feels like painting the atmosphere. I used to use organic sounds as obviously it is way easier for our body to absorb organic waves and vibrations. It reaches the soul more easily, naturally.

In all the different steps of my life, music was with me, in France, in India, in New zealand, in Spain, with my family, alone. And not necessarily melodies. Not necessarily instrumental. Any evocative sound. As Victor Hugo said, Music is a noise that think."

- Tell us more about the mix, how you put it together, and what music is in there? 

"I was reading Alan Watts on that day, so I decided to start with his words, and Nuage, a track I made 8 years ago from a merger of a piano improvisation and notes of a Pad I used to meditate. Then it all started to accelerate, to become more intuitive, from the urgent need of a stable minimal groove, to the call of mystical atmospheres. Predictability to give strength to the unpredictable. Dirty kicks to summon cleaner ones. And piano drops as fresh air injections. The vocals I used basically came from Alan Watts and Mirra Alfassa, the mystical french woman who built this unique place called Auroville, in India. I used their word to refocus when my mind was traveling too far, and also to give some perspective to the sounds, and to the inner adventure that music can be."

- Please tell us what the future holds for you, or at least, what you hope that the future holds.

"For my future, I want variety. To feel life as a continuous music, and dance while it's playing. Musically, in the short-term I want keep learning technical aspects of production, to gain more freedom, to have more ingredients available. In the mid term I want to work more on improvisation, instrumental improvisation (mainly piano) and hardware improvisation. All together, to be able to capture the essence of some short and concrete moments, in one shot. Raw, pure, organic, imperfect and sincere music. And more globally, I want to try to live differently at one point. To stop stifling what I have inside. Create real and honest bonds with some people, take the time to feel the time, to get back to a natural rhythm, and from here, unleash creativity and hopefully absorb wisdom.

In summer 2015, Oleeva Records began as just a seed of an idea. Its family tree has since grown to include musicians, artists and fans the world over! Sam Goku is back with another remix and its his most adventurous to date. In light of his recent 12" EP on Atonmation, we could definitely say that Sam is digging deeper than ever before. Discovering and creating soundscapes that reach far beyond the conventional structures of house music we have grown accustomed to.  His take on 'Oze' is a hypnotic, dizzying 9 minute journey that transforms Didacte's original into a completely different beast.

@didacte is an integral part of the Oleeva family. He was responsible for the first solo album we released, 'From Here To The Glade' and has since put out his 'Ad Lucem' EP, and the beautiful single 'Laho' with us. Didacte's latest piece, MMGG will be the opening track on our forthcoming various artist album and his first contribution to our free download reworks series will be out shortly. His textural approach to electronica is made truly original by the inclusion of his own guitar and piano improvisations that he weaves seamlessly into his productions and podcasts. It has been 3 years since we shared his debut Oleeva Podcast, Autour le Silence and we are so happy to finally be sharing the next installment. 'Mirra Alfassa' is a dramatic, hopeful trip, that ebbs and flows between different shades of house, techno and electronica.  Stay safe, stay home and keep positive.

Oleeva Podcast Sixteen: Didacte - Mirra Alfassa

Didacte gently guides us into 2021 with his second piano-led single. Anatta is another track that started life as an improvised piano piece but with so much intent and direction it demanded a full release. The reflective nature of it really resonated with us from the moment we first heard it. From then it grew into this complex little story of ambient harmonies and textures but with the nuances and drum work of a deep house record.
