And now for something completely different..... As a fan of the soulful side of any kind of music, I also really enjoy a little bit of hip hop and nu-soul. I know it's hits mostly however still an enjoyable mix and brings some variety to the mixes i posted... Enjoy

dec 2013: 2 Technics 1200, a Dateq XTC, two crates of house classics, one of the best bars in Amsterdam (Cafe Diep) a great crowd with many friends, and me... all the right ingredients for a nice revival of lovely vocal house classics. I reconstructed the set at home, in exactly the same order as played at Diep... enjoy!

Although I grew up in an era when it was't common for every kid to want to become a DJ,I always feel i was surrounded by DJ's and DJ friends. From as early as I can remember, i was fiddling with two tape decks, trying to create a mix. At the age of 14 i bought my first 1200's (still have them) The musical inspiration came from the many high quality drive in discotheques in the area, and Primo was leading the way. It has been on the back of my mind for quite some time to make a mix with the music that inspired me then, and still does now... These are the roots that jumpstarted my desire to DJ and showcase the great music that is out there... Hope you like it.

A day where everything comes together: great weather, crisp soundsystem, nice crowd, o solid friend standing next to me the entire set (Andy!!) inviting me to play my favourite beach music. just one week before my favorite festival in the world, Southport weekender, i was asked to play there in an opening set by Gavin Kendrick. After a week with little sleep and a lot of crate digging for what to play (even if it only was for an hour), and quite a bumpy journey towards the festival, the result was this mix. i fully enjoyed playing there, and hope that shines through in the mix.

This is an exact reproduction of the set i did at Nick Blow's great Southport reunion party " A celebration of life and friends". I only added the a capella, the first and last track, to make it a full cd. And unfortunately, i did not have the mighty, terrifying Bozak at my disposal. My first time on " The beast", including the EQ and the isolator, and i loved it. I loved playing there, and it really did feel like a celebration of life and friends. Hope some of the enthusiasm of the night shines through...

having made more than 150 mix tapes and cd's over the years, this is one of the mixes that never left my cd wallet in my car. Inspired by my visit to Soutportweekender in nov 2005,i put together a mix that did it for me back then. and now,  7 years later, i think this mix still stands out with timeless tracks and some seriously smoooooothe mixing. hope you enjoy it as much as i still do...  

My all time personal favorite mix

Making a mix/compilation always brings out internal dilemmas.. The desire to create a perfect mix versus the fear of perfectioning-out the soul of the first creation.... I see a lot of similarities with cooking: if the star chef recipe says a dish requires 27 grams of salt, who am I to put in 30 or 25 grams. So i will start measuring. To know what the dish can be like, what it's real potential is. Making a compilation triggers the same mechanism. I know what it's potential is, so why not act by it and adjust until I think it is done.... And I think it is done.... Enjoy!

Woodstock Bloemendaal. The perfect place to play the broadest selection of music. Cracking sound system, music loving crowd, always a good vibe.. This is where it started for me back in 2001. And this is where i played an 11 hour set during Easter 2019.... The first 2 hours is an exact copy of a part of that 11 hours. For the last hour I selected some musical highlights of the other songs i played..... Enjoy

I wanted to create a mix that i could play during the Christmas period. Something that fits the mood without it being the obvious songs, the bells, the snow etc. Something that invites people to open up and come together. I asked my friends close and far away for recommendations. I was surprised and inspired by the suggestions. But i also realized all my music comes from recommendations from friends, and is connected to memories, to people and to important events. It's all connected. We're all connected. All the time. That's the true Christmas spirit for me.

This is a mix I must have made somewhere mid 90ies and were already classics back then (tape is called De Mijnes Classics II). Most of the tracks are still tracks that I like, which is not always the case with old mixes. Influenced by my time in iT Amsterdam mostly these vocal tracks were the tracks that coloured my nights and shaped my musical memories

This mix was made purely based on recommendations of my music friends. . They show my the great hidden treasures. My music collection is built on their knowledge of quality music. And their knowledge is only there, because all these great artists hat made unbelievable music without an expiration date. Without the artists and without my friends giving me direction, I would not be able to make these mixes.
