Corey Cunningham's Business of Dreams is all about emotional catharsis. When his father passed away a few years ago, Cunningham took leave from his long-running Bay Area/LA musical partnerships Magic Bullets and Terry Malts to return to his home state of Tennessee to grieve and confront his past.

Making music to cope with this loss resulted in Business of Dreams' lovely eponymous debut album, an unexpected pop pleasure that wound up on Bandcamp's and Raven Sings The Blues' year-end lists for 2017. Soon the live version of Business Of Dreams took shape as Cunningham opened for Rogue Wave on a national tour and played scores of local shows with Frankie Rose, Real Estate and many others.

With his new album "Ripe For Anarchy," Cunningham has honed the songwriting with an eye towards regret, existence, and perseverance. "When I’m gone you won’t cry for me, focus on the moment, be free," he sings on "Chasing That Feeling." And that’s the mantra here: it’s time to let go. "The album is about living in the moment, shedding neurosis, and the desire to discard the general societal malaise we’ve been roped into."

"Ripe For Anarchy" is a through-and-through ode to indie pop, in the historic definition of the genre. "My Old Town" and "N.R.E.A.M." could be album cuts on a Grant McLennan solo album, "Don’t Let Our Time Expire" and "Naive Scenes" could be The Smiths, the Sparklehorse cover "The Hatchet Song" bears an uncanny resemblance to Australian pop pioneers Even As We Speak, and "I Feel Dread" has the unmistakable earmarks of The Field Mice.

And while he may be more noted for playing guitar in Terry Malts, Smokescreens, and Merge Records' Mike Krol's backing band, Cunningham is most at home making soft sounds extolling the wounded and mournful. "I think music is the most personal of mediums. You can work and listen, you can run and listen, you can drive and listen. And I think I’m a misfit. If I can make the most personal music for misfits, then I’m satisfied."

They say you can’t go home again, but for Matt Messore it took returning to his hometown of Cassadaga, Florida to discover a new path forward. After traveling across the country and time spent in his former group, Dear Tracks, Messore indulged his DIY bedroom pop leanings working as Cathedral Bells.

The aptly titled “Homebody” served as the project’s first offering introducing a sprawling, whirring world of shoegaze/dream-pop atmospheres extending far beyond its humble origins. That track is now set to open side B of Cathedral Bells’ debut, self-titled EP which will see release on cassette and digitally via Good Eye Records.

The EP is preceded by singles “Cemetery Surf” and “A Passing Phase” drawing initial praise from tastemakers including Indie Shuffle who said; “I think Cathedral Bells have struck the perfect balance of throwback synth work, melodic progression and overall shoegazey vibes. The result works in the 80s, the 90s, the naughties and in 2018. And that’s quite good coverage, all things considered.”

"Cathedral Bells" is out now and is the twelfth release from Good Eye Records.

Endless Lovers

Sambassadeur's fourth album Survival will be released on April 12, 2019 worldwide. The first single "Foot of Afrikka" from the upcoming album will be released on February 1st.

After seven years of absence, Sambassadeur is back! The collaboration with producer Mattias Glavå continues and the first single out is Foot of Afrikka. Foot of Afrikka is recorded in Stockholm along with no less than Gustav Ejstes and Reine Fiske from Dungen, Christoffer Gunrup from The Amazing and Ramo Spatalovic (Joel Alme / Franke).
 
"The song was recorded during a morning in Solna, we had missed sending the song in advance so no one had heard it when we started but it went well anyway. Half the album is recorded in Stockholm, always great to get away for a while. To "get away" and that people have different ways of doing that is sort of what this song is about. "
 
The video is directed by Samuel Peterson and is recorded on an indoor  beach outside Gothenburg. After releasing three albums on Labrador (Radio dept, SKWBN, Ingenting), Sambassadeur has now chosen to go their own way. Survival as the album is called will be released on April 12 and will be the first release on the band's newly launched label European Records
