We are back in 2013.
Beginning of 2012 a new name appeared on the international dancefloor: CLAPTONE (artist of the year 2012 in German Trendcharts DCC).
The track ‘CREAM’ became the worldwide Top Track (No.2) of Beatport in the category Deep House and was among the Top 10 of the most charted tracks for 2012 on Resident Advisor.
The new year brings 2 more surehots for the clubs: WRONG & NO EYES featuring JAW from dOP.
Early support by Tensnake, Solomun, Noir, Laurent Garnier, DJ T…

In a now long forgotten world, many generations ago, a bird like shape emerged from wooded darkness, floating and fluttering, drifting and dreaming. Backlit by a bright glow of iridescent light, the undecipherable form wore a dazzling golden mask. Its long beak swooped down like an inverted horn and since then, people have referred to the mythical being simply as Claptone.
Years spending wandering medieval landscapes have informed Claptone’s view of the world, experiencing both magical mystery and muted melancholy he enchanted onlookers with occult instruments and beguiling sounds. Forever surrounded by a sense of intrigue, the world soon cottoned on to the elusive yet enchanting musical powers of this otherworldly beast. The results are that today his shamanistic sonic powers take him all around the world.
Whilst Claptone has continued to roam in his own circles, 2012AD proved to be a year dominated by his infectious ‘Cream’ track. It became an immediate hit, topping new world charts at Beatport and RA, whilst the sonic conjuring of the ‘Night On Fire’ EP also lured all those who heard it, with the result another Top 20 hit. But that’s not all, for the creativity flows freely in our hero, and his ‘Another Night’ also proved to be just as successful on the dancefloor. Deep and woozy, the Claptone sound pairs theatre with tragedy, feel good vibes with acute melancholia and imbues each groove with a Rhodes laced funk, an organic string hook and myriad earthy elements.
Up to the present day, Claptone releases have been birthed on Germany’s influential Exploited label, picking up props from the likes of Pete Tong, DJ Sneak, Soul Clap, DJ Hell, Jesse Rose, A-Trak along the way. Who or whatever Claptone is, it is alive, with a life of its own, evolving and revolving in equal measure, exploring new sounds naturally and forever taking inspiration from long gone and occult worlds.
So far, esteemed and influential dancefloors at clubs in Berlin, London, Paris, Melbourne, Shanghai, New York and many others around the world have fallen under the sonic spell of this secretive alchemist. The future is unpredictable for Claptone, but a new release ‘Wrong’ including the track ‘No Eyes’ with the inimitable JAW from French funsters dOP is on the horizon. Beyond that, your guess is as good as ours…

Claptone steps out of the shadows once again with ‘The Music Got Me’, an exciting new offering from the mysterious enigma with the golden mask. 'Music Got Me' by Claptone is an authorised cover version of 'Music Got Me' by Visual which has been approved and licensed by Unidisc the rights holder.

As you would expect of new Claptone, 'The Music Got Me’ is destined for late nights and packed clubs all over, such are the enchanting powers of this otherworldly beast. However this one goes further still. The achingly cool 80s NYC disco/postpunk flavour combines with a distinct Chicago bassline to offer an exciting glimpse of the eclectic, indie vibe of his debut artist album (slated for release later this year on Different Recordings – the label that launched the careers of Crystal Castles, Tiga, Crystal Fighters, Vitalic).  

Claptone’s last two releases ‘No Eyes’ and ‘Ghost’ both topped the Beatport charts, the latter of which featured Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! (a collaboration we can only assume was arranged by some sort of séance). They went on to become enormous smashes on Berlin house label Exploited, earning the plaudits of the biggest DJs and setting Claptone off on a non-stop DJ tour across the globe.

It’s remarkable that the masked man has still found time in his tour schedule to deliver big remixes for the likes of Metronomy, The Pet Shop Boys, Rüfüs, Klaxons and Gregory Porter & more!

A golden scooped beak slowly emerges from the darkness. Claptone is bringing us ‘Charmer’, his first artist album.

In the last few years Claptone has become known for releasing big tracks primed for late nights and packed clubs all over the world. ‘Charmer’ however fuses his signature house sound with a more eclectic aesthetic, featuring guest appearances from Nathan Nicholson (The Boxer Rebellion), Jimi Tenor, Young Galaxy, Jay-Jay Johanson and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah amongst others.

He today shares introductory track ‘Puppet Theatre’ ft. Peter, Bjorn and John, a collaboration which offers a glimpse of the depth to be found when peeling back the layers of ‘Charmer’.

The album will drop following a packed summer touring schedule which reaches all corners of the globe and it follows the run-away success of Claptone's remix for Gregory Porter, a tune which dominates Ibiza this year and has been the biggest selling track on Beatport for months on end.


The album also features ‘Dear Life’ and ‘The Music Got Me’ as well the early singles ‘No Eyes’ and ‘Ghost’, both enormous smashes on essential Berlin house label Exploited.

Claptone will be holding album launch parties all over the planet in the coming months kicking off with a special showcase at W Amsterdam on the eve of release during Amsterdam Dance Event.
‘Charmer’ is set for release on 16/10/15 on Different Recordings (the label that launched the careers of Crystal Castles, Tiga, Crystal Fighters, Vitalic).

CLAPTONE - CREAM / GOOD TO YOU I Exploited Records

Fisher debuted “Ya Kidding” at the beginning of the Summer and it took a life of it’s own. It was perpetually in the top 10 for months, one of the most Shazamed tracks in Ibiza & UK through the festival season, took over multiple chart positions around the globe, and included an official video featuring an epic shoe-off, and became one of the biggest songs of 2017. 

With a track that strong as your first record, it was going to be a hard act to follow. Fortunately, Fisher’s sophomore release “Oi Oi” puts all those fears to rest. 

Leading off the EP is “Stop It”—the already infamous ‘roller coaster song’ that fans ask us about daily. The marriage of the track’s bassline and one sentence verse combine for an attention-grabbing single that raises the energy exponentially no matter where it’s played.

“Ya Didn’t” adds a funky bass bounce to a heavy synth stab, and a big buildup that cements Fisher’s reputation as a monster of the party.

Under The Moon is the latest single to be taken from Claptone’s forthcoming album ‘Fantast’.

It’s an exquisitely executed piano-led deep house groover, the kind of which the Claptone name has become synonymous with over recent years. It’s the song that’s been getting the big response in Claptone’s DJ sets of late and its release has become hotly anticipated amongst his fans. The song gradually builds tension as Nathan Nicholson’s vocal weaves through until an almighty release into a driving bass line. 

It’s also the return of a collaboration which brought about ‘Heartbeat’, the runaway single from the masked man’s debut album, a track which for many sound-tracked the summer of 2015 and has since notched up 20m Spotify streams. 

With a hectic touring schedule ahead for mysterious man, and remixes on their way from Cassius, Catz N Dogz and Lee Foss, the track is set to play a big part in Ibiza and at festivals throughout the Summer.

Claptone is a unique proposition in modern music. Painted as a mythical character shrouded in mystery, Claptone has become one of the biggest names in electronic music whilst himself remaining in the shadows. He has however constantly sought to deepen his own distinctive world, creating a rich tapestry, which tells the Claptone story.

In his second artist album ‘Fantast’, the Claptone universe is at its deepest and most vivid. He is the master of his domain and in his most artful offering yet, the assured 13 tracks of 'Fantast' come together to create an album full of varied colours and atmospheric textures.

In music Claptone seeks not to create a world of secrecy, but one of great depth and intrigue. An enigma with a tireless desire for creativity and thirst for new music, Claptone has brought together a diverse group of collaborators such as Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke, Blaenavon, Tender, Jones, Zola Blood, Austra’s Katie Stelmanis, The Boxer Rebellion’s Nathan Nicholson, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Joan as a Police Woman and Matt Simons.  

'Over the last two years it has been a great pleasure to work on this album as a counterpoint to the hectic world of travelling as a DJ. To lose myself when making music, to dive into and create my very own realm of beauty. I admit it's a dreamy, a heartfelt, at times a naive and surely escapist album, but what to do if one - on the quest for his soul - develops a strong desire to go back to his roots, back to nature? Did I find myself on that journey? Rather not. But I found some beautiful moments in the green, out in the woods, out in the fields, under the moon and in the night, moments, which I want to share with you. And there is one thing I learned and now it can be told, I am and have always been a ‘Fantast’.'

We caught a glimpse of his ambition to produce a body of work in Claptone’s debut artist album 'Charmer' which has scored over 60million streams and counting, but it’s in 'Fantast' that Claptone really delves deeper into the art of songwriting. 

2018 will see another intense year of touring as a DJ with Claptone taking his immersive 'The Masquerade' event experience further, having built momentum over the last 18 months hosting events and stages in Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, Melbourne, Barcelona and New York and at festivals like Tomorrowland, Melt Festival, Elrow at Amnesia Ibiza, Green Valley in Brazil.
