The goal of this feature and accompanying mix was to create a journey of escapism and comfort. Whereas the previous Portals feature, ‘Music For Sleeping’ could be deemed very similar, the approach here focused on keeping an attentive layer/s that ended up being more pure to Brian Eno’s definition of ambient music: “As ignorable as it is interesting”, which actually aligns very well with the definition of what it means to be mindful; "the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something”.

Nikos Bitsimeas aka Rising Galaxy was born in 1976 in central Greece. He has studied classical trumpet, piano and composition until the age of 19. He discovered electronic music and got involved in the blooming rave scene of the early 90s. He was playing music as a deejay in local trance and early Goa parties from 93 and from 94 started to build his first home studio.
He became known as Infinite Zen and as one third of Brain Deflections band his tracks circulated in the international psychedelic trance DAT scene. He also played live in Israel and Germany. By the change of the millenium he started to shift his productions towards house and deep house and since then he released EPs on various labels.
By the end of the 00s he started to concentrate in ambient productions and field recordings and to his early love of psychedelic trance. He has also worked over 15 years, both in music and news radio stations as program operator and post
production engineer. He continues to spin progressive psy-trance and ambient to various parties in open and squatted spaces around the city of Athens.

Victories in those battles were temporary.  Conflict in the decades ahead will feature ever higher stakes, more convoluted issues, and far more powerful technology.  The debate is about how civilization decides to conduct itself and in whose interests.

“Cory Doctorow is one of the great context-setters of our generation,” says Tim O’Reilly.  Co-editor of the acclaimed blog “Boing Boing,” Doctorow writes contemporary science fiction blending contextual insight with journalistic depth.
