Originally, Cadavre Exquis (also known as Exquisite Corpse in English) is a game by which a collection of words or images is collectively assembled. Each contributor is tasked with adding an element to form a larger sequence.
Using the same concept with techno music production, we challenged local and international producers to make a 5 tracks EP, with 3 artists per track. None of the artists knew who they were working with until the end of the challenge. They all were assigned to work on a different segment of the track: rhythm, melody, and sound arrangements; and had 48 hours each to produce their part.
The goal of our project was to strengthen the links between the producers in the techno scene worldwide, showcase the work of emerging artists and give them visibility through an EP downloadable for free. The result is remarkably surprising and gives us a great taste of diversity, mixing different techno genres and featuring artists coming from Europe, North and South America.
