Holldën's one-man techno onslaught
charges ahead like an animal in heat,
sniffing upwards of heaven for ever
more contagious beats and unique
sound climaxes to take root deep
within the dancer's soul.
The end result of such expedition, this
time around, is 'Return To From', an
EP both confident and cool in its
stride, dishing out three techno
bangers with the breezy demeanor of
a young Steve McQueen shaking his
head behind the curtain.
With 'Mask Up Cash In' leading the
charge, the picture immediately
emerges of the record's slick gait,
gliding and rolling across aeons of
groove, punctuated with percussive
backflips and pounding dynamic
broadsides.
It then elastically pivots to 'Mona
Loser (Club Addiction Rework)', a
hands-off revisitation of the
producer's beloved track, with
surgical additions and tweaks for
increased club impact, making it a
killer tool for advanced ballroom
activities.
Short and sweet, the EP then goes on
to deliver a final feel-good knock-out
number in 'Bake It Till U Cake It', a
multi-shade object both urgent in its
pace and sexy in its flow, securing a
charismatic finish to its relentless
march.
All in all, here's yet another work from
a producer bent on making every day
at the office count.
