Reach for the geiger counter - Park End comes shelling in the direction of Sneaker Social Club with some plutonium-plated, 2-stepping swelterweight gear for the grubbiest of dancehalls. All we can ascertain about the shadowy figure on the buttons for this latest release is that they’re clearly schooled in the lineage of UK hardcore, pirate radio culture and the sympathetic tenets of UKG, jungle and dubstep.

Opening up the A side, ’Same Dream’ is a claustrophobic, gnarly creeper with razor-sharp snares, growling low end and enough heads-down malaise to turn the most blissful sunrise set ice-cold. ‘The Immortality Of The Crab’ pays tribute to the fine tradition of illegal radio broadcasting and its importance for the development of rave, leaning on a staggered, mucky garage beat that smacks hard just how we like it.

On the flip, Park End turns attention to the synergy between RnB and garage with a refix of BBL Sound’s ‘BBS’, pairing the sweetest vocal chops with plenty of bitter b-line pressure, while ‘Rekt’ draws on an unnamed voice for another fission between human sensitivity and mechanised intensity. This parting shot borders on anti-anthemic by the time it reaches its peak while holding true to the pitch-black vibe creeping out around the edges of this rough diamond of an EP.

Oceans is my first LP, and strays ever so slightly away from the club-oriented tracks I’ve released so far. This time, I wanted to lean in more on some of my non-dance music influences, such as shoegaze, post rock and ambient, and channel them into deeply emotional and atmospheric breakbeat tracks.

Although it has no lyrics, Oceans has a story to tell, a deeply personal one. It is the backdrop to a journey of self discovery, a tale of navigating across the vastness of a troubled tapestry of emotions, a coming of age.

Oceans is about finding beauty among the darkness within, embracing the melancholy, and staring into the light after rising from the ashes.

The Swedish producers between them have released music on Studio Barnhaus, Born Free, Unknown to the Unknown, L.I.E.S. and The Trilogy Tapes. With a beautiful mix to welcome the summer months they told us;

"We selected some favourites from our archive with spirit of summer in mind. Winter has been too long this year,
well too long every year actually. So we ended up with some classic Brazilian cuts, boombap beats, some 90´s Clock DVA and a few other bits n pieces. If you listen to the mix it will sound like how we play at our local pubs.

Solid Steel (9th December) King Geedorah aka MF DOOM is perhaps the most legendary and revered living figure in underground hip hop today. A generation have grown up in awe of the masked producer and MC - he’s influenced and worked with J Dilla, Flying Lotus, Earl Sweatshirt, Madlib, Clams Casino, Danger Mouse, RZA, Ghostface Killah, De La Soul and more. To celebrate the re-release of the conceptual classic "Take Me To Your Leader", originally released in 2003 via Big Dada (Ninja Tune), King Geedorah has delivered a rare "Snake Charmer" mix (premiered via Pitchfork) for Solid Steel. The mix features 3 exclusive unreleased tracks from an upcoming project curated by MF DOOM and a new King Geedorah remix of 'Banished' by JJ DOOM.

Solid Steel Radio Show 9/12/2016 Hour 1 - King Geedorah Snake Charmer Mix

In Hour 2 it's the turn of E.M.M.A. following the release of her EP 'LA Mermaid' on the excellent Astral Plane Recordings, which follows previous releases on Wavey Tones and Keysound. She told us;
"I'm referring to this mix as a roots of E.M.M.A. mix. Everything in here has had a some kind of influence on me.  I went to see Mobb Deep when I was 15 and they sound tracked my teenage years. RIP Prodigy.  I guess my latest release on Astral Plane Recordings is a homage to that period of listening to rap too, in terms of the beat patterns. I've included some of my own tracks so you can see where they fit in with my influences. I've also included the work of some of my friends who are a source of inspiration. The Glass Candy/ Knife era was my university years and I have some fond memories of sleeping on my roof  listening to them. That's when I really started thinking I wanted to make tunes. There's a nod to the 1980s in there via heart throb Paul Young, because I will never tire of that drama filled synth work. It's the best. Oh and I ended with trance, cos that's my year 9 school disco era."
