Solid Steel (20th September) Strictly Kev gives us a companion to his earlier 'O Is For Orange' mix with another selection based around the Boards of Canada sound called 'T Is For Trapped'. Hitting a more techno vein for the first half, he threads tracks from The Simonsound, Sanctums, Alva Noto and Boards in their Hell Interface guise into the travelogue. There's unreleased material in the form of his extended re-edit of 'Reach For The Dead' and the Peel Session track 'XYZ' as well as lead track by Le Boac, a new project by Posthuman. He then takes it into darker ambient territory with John Carpenter, Alan Howarth and Vangelis before emerging into the sunlight with a whole heap of older Ghost Box material.

Kije steps away from his usual 2-step tech based explorations and drops two well contrasted pieces perfect for the Diffrent Music catalogue. 'Coming For You' is a real moody halftime giraffe head-nod vibe with rib cracking subs, crisp hitting rimshot/snare hits and dark atmospheric soundscape work. The flip-side, titled 'You Know Me' is nearly a million miles apart style wise, with it's unique blend of smooth melodic strings, powerful vocal snips and hard hitting drums all fused together with a slight underlying duke style groove pumping through.

Each telling a different chapter in Bop’s cosmic voyage – ‘Untitled Pattern 52’ sees deep and emotive soundscapes bolstered to the rhythm of a dub and techno beat. The additional tale of ‘Untitled Pattern 51’ is a jungle and footwork hybrid; one with skittering amen drums, marching to a regimented clap in a glorious fusion of classic and contemporary.
