The Robot Scientists deliver the second episode of our Tribute Series:

"Depeche Mode, a love affair. We grew up with Depeche Mode in the 1980s, their first albums were the sound of our early youth - apart from Italo Disco, Electro, and New Wave extended dance versions. Markus heard their first single 'New Life' on the UK Top 100, presented on the German SWF3 radio, and instantly fell in love with the pure and melodic synth sound and Dave Gahan's great voice. Until nowadays, 'Speak and Spell' is Markus's favorite and most often played vinyl album.

 Depeche Mode turned New Wave and Synthpop into mainstream music, they married synthpop and the club culture, they published dozens of really outstanding songs, their 100s of remixes influenced us to go for a 'one song & remixes' strategy with our label Emerald & Doreen.

So it was a very special challenge and honour for us to create a mix only with their music. For our one-hour megamix, we used 27 of our favorite tracks and remixes, quite a few from the 1980s as we love their early sound so much. As you will notice, we dug deep to be able to stick to our usual The Robot Scientists sound with a lot of great basslines, dubby effects, industrial percussions, spaced out vibes and sweet melodies", stated the lads.

On this debut release, all four tracks are examples of true digger’s delights and super rare, esoteric sounds. B2 "El Fan" is an edit of the groovy song by the 70's Algerian singer Aït Meslayen.
