Get to know Wally Stryk

-What inspired you to start making music in your beginnings as a music producer or dj?

I started as a producer since I had been playing guitar in a rock band during my adolescence. For me it was something natural. What's more I started producing music at 16 before playing it as a DJ around 18.

-Can you describe your first ever gig, what did you feel?

I think happy to be able to share music and surely stressed at the same time. It was for my school's end-of-year party, I played in front of all my friends and teachers. It was a very special moment. At that time they lent me 2 Cdj100, the first ones from Pioneer and I had to record CDs.

- What advice can you give to newcomers that want to be like you or any other influential dj?

Patience and Humility

-What has been the most difficult experience as a producer or dj, how did you overcome it?

At first I couldn't make a living from my music alone, and for years I had to work next door.
By never giving up and pursuing my dream I reached it. And well, today I feel very grateful and full of being able to live from my passion. It is my most beautiful achievement I think.

Tietjen’s goal is to develop as an artist - constant musical education and progression plays a major role in his DJ heritage. During his years with the cocoon family in frankfurt he received an enormous amount of creative input and got to know the musical backround of many of his mentors such as Sven Väth, Ricardo Villalobos or Raresh.
