This was the first melody I even heard from Spyro the Dragon soundtrack as it was the first spyro game I played. It is one of the rarest songs as it is at the same time game opening theme and background song for the opening level in the spyro game. 

Drums, organ and guitars accompany you to adventure in Avalar! Elora the Faun and Hunter the Cheetah will introduce you to new worlds, adventures, and enemies such as Ripto, Crush and Gulp!

Spyro the Dragon is a 1998 platform game developed by Insomniac Games for the PlayStation. It stars Spyro the Dragon, a young purple dragon. It is the first game in the iconic Spyro the Dragon series of video games. I did my best to find new instruments to honor Stewart Copeland's great music work, but to also find new sides of it in form of this new remake. 

Glimmer was the world used by the Professor, Elora and Hunter to summon their protector. They built a smaller gate (smaller than the one in Winter Tundra) and linked it to Dragon World in the hopes of leading a Dragon to Avalar. But to their surprise, the dragon that came was not what they expected and before a new one could arrive, Ripto came and destroyed their portal, leaving them with only Spyro. Little did they realize that Spyro was no ordinary dragon.

For the Sonic Generations PC Unleashed porting project.

There were a couple of considerations for this. First off, the "White World" mixes are really, really basic. There's a very real danger of easily over-writing for it. In essence, all the original mixes in Generations could have been played by a small band with a few soloists (flute, violin), with a hypothetical turntablist/DJ for Speed Highway and keys handling a lot of the layered synth stuff for Planet Wisp and the bosses.

For this project, I chose to embrace that, yet I wanted this series to be both easily distinguishable from the original White Worlds, while being similar in coloration to each other to present a cohesive unit. I chose to emphasize clean electric guitars over the acoustic guitars that were present in the original. My soloists remain mainly a flute and violin, with some cello parts, and a saxophone soloist for Chun-Nan. Empire City involves a small Big Band ensemble, just because that's so definitive of the original (and the New York trope). I kept the raw sounding drums and metallic bass as carryovers from the original White World.

Looking back, it's evident my production methods have evolved a little over the ~6 months that these were done. The tone of especially the drums may have been a lot more consistent had this been done in a span of a few days. Oh well, live and learn, as they say!

p.s. it was a biyotch adapting Unleashed music to this BPM. The originals are all so fast.
