CAT Chat #10 - Maelynn Ballwith - Audio Engineering & Production Alumni

CAT Chat is the official podcast for Centre for Arts and Technology, the digital art school based out of Kelowna BC Canada.

On this episode, host Chris Morris interviews Nicole Gauss, teacher in the 2D Animation and Digital Art program. They discuss how Nicole got into the Animation field, what advise she would give anyone looking to join the industry themselves, and how she got to work on such projects as "Braceface", "The Voyage of Sinbad" and "Zeta Project".

Nicole graduated from Capilano University two year animation program in 1999, Soon after graduating she started her first Job at Atomic Cartoon Inc. Working as a character designer, Prop designer and clean up artist on various TV shows such as “Zeta project”, ‘Braceface’ and “Atomic Betty”. Working on such a variety of cartoons made for a very wide adaptation in her design skills. 

Animation clean up is another skill she learned along her journey when 
working on the Voyage of Sinbad for Bardel in league with Dreamworks. Attending over a dozen Comic conventions and speaking as a guest on character design and what to expect when pursuing a career in animation. 

You will still find her doing most of her artwork traditional and encouraging others to embrace bringing art to life on paper.

Peter started out as a student in the 3D Animation program but over the years gravitated towards Graphic Design and Web Development. Peter is constantly pushing himself to become an expert in his field. His passion and talent has led to a strong knowledge base and successful career in website design, graphic design, and website development. 

Before becoming head of Lifeblood Marketing Peter was the CTO and Senior Developer at Hiilite, the National Distributed Learning Manager and Lead Instructor for the Graphic Design and Web Development programs at CATO. 

He is also active in the non-profit community, doing work with Opera Kelowna, The Grindstone Award Foundation, and the Fat Cat Children’s Festival. With over a decade of experience in the multimedia industry, Peter possesses an expert level of understanding and knowledge of technology, and education. 

If Google was a person, he would be Peter-Singh Vigilante… seriously, what can’t he do?
