Lately I've struggled to complete projects that I've started. There are at least a dozen close to completion but I just can't seem to get any of them over the line. So I set myself a challenge to start and finish something within a week in the hope that this will spur me on with the other unfinished works. The challenge was a success (well I think so anyway) so I give you 'Leaving Gravity'. The title says it all really ;) Hopefully I'll get some more finished soon...........

The latest Toy Tonics release comes straight from London with a remix by Germany’s finest TUFF CITY KIDS. 

Metropolitan Soul Museum or MSM are Nick & Filippo. The pair have been running together Nick’s Teng Records for the past 3 years - the label was set up to release Nick’s Akra project music as well as other artists. Heads will remember this great imprint. Always crossing borders. Never being boring. Nick was also part of Mock & Toof, a duo that had quite a buzz when they were releasing freaky house music just few years ago. 

MSM have had a good start already: they self-released their "Ruff Trk 4" a few months ago - including a remix by ROUND, the guy from Talabot's Hivern Discs. The interesting thing about MSM is also their live act: Playing with 707, Vintage keys, Machine and various effects - a similar set up for their studio production brought on the dance floor. There will be a lot more to come from MSM. This is just the beginning.

DJ, musician, former saxophonist - there's a combination of skills you don't get to see too often. Get acquainted with DEMIAN, then, aka Damien Pontonnier, a French artist who relocated to Paris after an influential career as electronic music pioneer and party organizer in Northern Spain. Now an accomplished producer with releases on labels such as Correspondant or Clouded Vision, he presents the MILESTARS EP for Kompakt - a quirky and vibrant track trio with an obvious knack for catchy melodic details in a kinetic techno corsage. 

Having amassed quite the experience portfolio when it comes to grassroots club culture, DEMIAN knows a thing or two about inspiring a dance floor - but that doesn't necessarily account for the artistic versatility or genuine lust for sonic adventures and happy accidents that these cuts exhibit: opener DÉCLICA boots with deliciously stoic cowbell-isms that leave the doors of perception wide open for some iconoclastic, yet surprisingly effective synth action. 

Meanwhile, the title cut invests in texture-rich atmosphere without forgetting about the precise amount of momentum you need to tip the floor over the edge. Closer NO HYPE FOR THE FISH takes things in a more hypnotic direction, intertwining freeform arpeggios and tape delay with smart beatmanship. Simultaneously lush and lean in its overall aesthetic, the MILESTARS EP will feed both the nerd and the dancer in you - a swiss army knife with all the right tools for masterful crowd control.

We continue THE ORB's SIN IN SPACE remix EP series with a third volume focussing on the duo's latest full-length, the highly acclaimed COW / CHILL OUT, WORLD! (KOMPAKT 354 CD 134). The spontaneous, organic vibe and sample artistry of the album is reflected in three distinct reworks from highly respected Kompakt mainstays THE FIELD, DAVE DK and JÖRG BURGER - all of them informed with surprising twists and displaying a clear lineage to the source material. 

THE FIELD's remix of 9 ELMS OVER RIVER ENO takes the original's percussive part and unfolds it to a swirling, tropical epic that alludes as much to The Orb's multifaceted sound collages as it does to the hypnotic, looping flow of The Field's own output. Rostock's Carlo Ruetz, who many will known from his outings on Minus, SCI-TEC and ELEVATE, joins Matador's RUKUS crew with a brand new four tracker in 'Creatures'. It's sonically awesome ensemble of power cuts led by the title track. Also featuring on the release is 'Strangers', a track you can hear in full premiere on When We Dip today. This is a harrowing cut, pumpin' from the first kick drum. Ruetz combines a sleek, direct drum line with a lush melodic touch falling from a high synth to a brash low end element.
