This week it was a real pleasure to welcome to the show Larry Miller (Associate Professor of Music Business at NYU & host of Musonomic podcast) and Taishi Fukuyama, founder of Japan market entry, business development agency PRTL (prtl.jp). 

We start by talking about an acquisition that caught everyone by surprise, that of Tunecore by Believe Digital, do the two companies complement one another? 

Also on the show we discuss TIDAL's slide the iOS apps chart, Guvera announcing reaching 10m users, the value of dance music in the US estimated to be $1.9bn, Spotify's advertising growth and new publishing appointment and finally the incredible performance of the Furious 7 soundtrack and a question, why the resurgence of OSTs over the past couple of years?

This week it was a pleasure to welcome Sophie Goossens (lawyer at August & Debouzy) and Darren Hemmings (founder of Motive Unknown) to the show.

On this penultimate instalment of our weekly appointments we start by chatting about a DMT all-time-favourite topic: Pandora’s quest for profitability and we also mention the latest CRB rate-setting procedures.

In other news, another round of Tidal-ness as we talk about Jay-Z’s tweets and wonder: should the company just stop with the hollow PR talk and come back in a couple of months with a more substantial plan?

We also discuss the EU Copyright Directive and the Digital Single Market initiative as PoliticoEU leaked some of the talking points of the upcoming announcement on the matter.
