Drinking to their tenth year in the game, Hive Audio enter 2022 with a celebratory compilation triptych featuring some of the finest names in the house and techno scenes. Taking the reins for the series' second instalment, a septet of the Swiss club affiliates and long-time friends headline the comp including Booka Shade, Einmusik, Edu Imbernon, Definition and Natascha Polké, Niconé & Dirty Doering, Nico Morano and Vanita. 

Pulling out their trademark engineering of athletic tech-house and subs-charged, aqueous sleekness, Booka Shade show the uninitiated how it's done true-school-style with the heat-conducting "Regatta Da Zatta". A blazing tapestry of synth-heavy lushness and clinical programming, tailored for nothing but whipping up ravers into a frenzy. 

Definition & Natascha Polké pick up the torch with the deeper descending, melancholic flow of "Haunted" - a cold-at-heart sonic tableau enticing us on the path of nostalgia through delicately textured paths and darker meanderings. 

Edu Imbernon dishes out a further propulsive blend of Italo-laced arpeggios, ominous deep-end threat and big-room churn on a brainwashing, trance-friendly tip, perfect to get everyone wading in their own sweat from peak-time to extended party action throughout the day. 

Merging tribalistic polyrhythms with angular narratives out tomorrow's globalized dystopia, Einmusik "Walensee" cuts a path of communicative elation with its barrage of glassy synth stabs and tectonic bass movements rising from down under up to stratospheric heights. 

Nico Morano's contribution "Adior" grinds elements of typical Latin suavity alongside feverish keyboard talk a la Moroder and newbeat-informed programming, ushering us in its own continuum of befogged hi-tech solitude. 

Funky to the bone, Niconé & Dirty Doering "Kill All My..." trades the velocity of the previous for a low-slung, nu-discoid swagger that blows the winds of ultimate hedonism across the dance floor. 

Last but not least, Vanita's bespoke freewheeling closer "Anxietatem" pulls off the perfect mix of rolling, tsunami-like dynamism and painstaking textural arrangements.

FRÅDERIK (@fraderik)est une DJ techno, d’origine suisse et péruvienne, qui a commencé en 2021. Ses goûts sont pour le moins qu’on puisse dire éclectique: classique, rock, rap, hip-hop ou encore reggeaton, elle puise dans ces styles “non-électro” pour faire des alliages inédits. 

Irrésistiblement attirée par la techno, elle a commencé à mixer des artistes dans la lignée de Christ Liebing, Modeselektor, David Meiser ou encore I Hate Models… 

Entre les quatre murs de son salon! Elle utilise une base techno et hard techno pour poser ses sets, et les parsème de mélange insolites. Il y a une composante dans le kick techno qu’elle trouve à la fois inquiétante et apaisante, et mélangé à des remixes “homemade” de Sigur Rós, Radiohead, ou M.IA. … 

Bref, avec le bon sample et la bonne track, il n’y a pas un genre musical qu’elle n’essaie pas de mélanger à la techno.

Top techno label !Organism serves up the forceful goods once more with another no nonsense EP, this time from Christian Cambas backed with a fine remix from Alex Di Stefano.

From being a Top100 DJ when it actually mattered, to topping Beatport charts, Christian has carved his own path through the countless peaks and troughs of this industry.  When name dropped now, he is mostly associated with the groundbreaking 1605 label, led by Slovenian Techno overlord Umek. As well as producing on Bedrock, Toolroom and Great Stuff, he is also involved in Press & Play, which acts as home to his own label Sabotage.

Up first is the rib-rattling, industrial tinged techno stomper that is ‘Chained.’ With a soft white noise backdrop and cantering kicks, this one rolls on and on and will keep marching dancers locked for the duration. 

Italian veteran and frequent Beatport chart topper Alex Di Stefano is on remix duties next. His to-the-point version of ‘Chained’ is a fulsome, texturally rich roller with hiccuping snares, blurts of bass and plenty of drive. 

Closing out the package is the equally impressive ‘Durged,’ which burrows deep into a streamlined drum line as scurrying details, monstrous synth animals and teeth gritting percussive lines all unfold before your very ears. 

For fans of proper techno with no frills, this is another perfect release.
