UK based record label Weapons of Desire was born on the 30th November 2017. The brain child of three friends Alex Handley, Mick Clarke and Toni Aslam. Alex and Toni first met Mick two years before when they had a couple of Auto Sound City EPs out on Mick’s long running Flight Recorder label. 

The saying “Being around the block a few times” is an understatement when you look at the recording history of them all. Playing, making and releasing music all the way back to the 80’s (even further in Mick’s case) seemed like a natural progression when talking about a potential label and the vision they had before its creation using their recording names (Iron Blu and Auto Sound City) to make the kind of music they wanted to dance to. The ethos was and still is to release tough dancefloor publications as stated in the label description "Spinning an endless cable of steel sound".

Over the years Weapons Of Desire has released vinyl as single-sided two track hand stamped records, four track EPs, a couple of six track compilations entitled Machine Funk Vol. 1 and 2, double packs and an album. The label Is also now fully integrated with regular digital releases too.

31 releases and a total of 33 different artists, Weapons of Desire has a seat firmly at the table with more chairs added for 2025. Afterall without great music, life would most certainly be a mistake

Steve Bailey aka Makaton, has been releasing seminal, experimental and cutting-edge techno music since 1998 with all but three of his releases coming through his own Rodz-Konez operation, a label that’s also released music by Regis, Inigo Kennedy, Female, The 65D Mavericks and Fumiya Tanaka.

Makaton has also released two records on Token and one on RSB.  His exhilarating live set has also seen him support the techno scene across the UK, Europe and in the US. ’4 Point Suspension’ conveys an immediate punch, with crunching beats and an unremitting delivery, while the fractured ‘Six Feet Under In Love’ stutters and sparkles, before the dark and whirling dimensions of ‘Cold Black Heart’. Parisian Matthieu Foltyn found his way in electronic music via his uncle David who use to live on the north of France, had a record store with a lot of EBM and industrial stuff and was a resident at the legendary Belgian club Boccacio in the early 90's. Matthieu started to shape his music career back in 2012. For the past five years he had residency in one of the famous Australian clubs Mercat Basement in Melbourne, worked a lot with Eight Nine crew in at Boney, released his own music under Myn alias and even started a label Public System Recordings.

Central American born Silent Servant has performed worldwide in clubs from LA, Berlin to Osaka. A chance meeting with Karl O'Conner in 1999 would establish a friendship that would open the door to the Sandwell District label in 2006. Silent Servant's sound is a reinterpretation of early '80s post-punk electronics, paired with the deep, metallic sounds of Basic Channel and Downwards.
