The tracks are born from the concept of being sonically coerced into movement, distilled down to the essential elements of rhythm; bass, vocals and drums. Having studied the phenomenon of rhythm based primarily on the writings of Tiger C. Roholt, Chungo explores the idea of groove as the puppeteer and the listener the puppet (Pupazzo in Italian). With the elements perfectly balanced, they lock into the internal metronome of the listener, turning motion into a necessity.

These rhythmic concepts coupled with Chungo's signature sugar-sweet production stylings make for an EP of pure UKG bliss that cuts through the noise and demands dance-floor particip

This feels like my most complete body of work to date. Showcasing my true feelings & emotions was the prime factor in the early process and weighed heavily in the development of each sound. With most of my production now, I like to inject a layer of emotion. Throughout the EP you’ll hear sprinkles of metallic pads, airy vocals and meandering baselines that invoke nostalgia — this is a really important emotion for me when I’m writing music and my most valued tool. It’s my deepest connection and allows me to really explore my creativity. To be teaming up with YUKU is a real pleasure – this is the perfect home for Thermal Blue and I’m thrilled to be working with such a prodigious label.

This track is from the forthcoming 'latent bangers vol. 1' EP. It takes inspiration from club music, albeit from a much more introspective view. Essentially they are anthems for anyone who has ever felt alone in the club.

openmode is the sonic musings of Anthony and Mark who both met, and still exist to some degree, within the gravitational field of London. They were introduced through a mutual friend and bonded over their appreciation of Burial, Talk Talk and finely patterned textiles. They spent years sending albums to one another, as well as pursuing solo attempts at music making, before realising there may be some merit in attempting to make music together.

Much of their sound is borne from navigating the creative process remotely, owing to their debut jam occurring on the eve of the first lockdown (and plagued with firmware based issues). Rightly or wrongly, they persevered in their attempts to create music, but from a far. Through a plethora of voice notes and massively exploiting the free usage policy of wetransfer, they began to develop their sound.

Their sound is heavily based on Mark’s vocal musings and motifs. These are then sliced, diced and (for the most part) lovingly reconstructed by Anthony, into something that may cause people to want to slightly move their body to it. This process has resulted in a montage of musical memories for the duo, spanning longer than either can fully remember.
